KEY LIME PIE RECIPE ft. Jim Chapman – SORTED

Published

on

This request from Jim Chapman for a Key Lime Pie is an american classic. They use the amazing key limes, from Florida. We’ve put a few twists in, replacing the meringue with icing and the traditional base with ginger nuts…we think it’s just as good as the original!

The link for the recipe isn't working. I have the cookbook and can't find the recipe in there. This recipe is the reason I bought the cookbook!

I put my key lime and lemon curd pies into a chocolate crust.. the chocolate brings out the flavor of the citrus and is absolutely delicious!

This is so interesting seeing your take on Key Lime Pie because we actually live in the Florida Keys where it was originally made.. The Sponge Fisherman came up with it. Very fancy! I want some of yours! Lol! I was researching for a recipe for it I was going to post.. I love your videos. Cooking videos are harder to make than you’d think. Haha! Well done guys!

Excuse me as a not a native English speaker and a Europian… But did I just realize, there is a place ín the US called key? And "key lime pie" is just a simple lime pie???

  7. @princed47130

    January 26, 2024 at 3:01 pm

Whipped cream is MUCH better than meringue on that pie!

Shouldn't butter be added in at the end of a curd while it cools????

You guys should really revisit this with some sort of twist! You've come a long way since this video and I reckon you could really improve on this recipe 🙂

Well… Tried the recipe today… When I taste tested the fresh cooked curd I lost all hope because it tasted like it's going to be a sugar-butter-cornflour-pie (with a hint of lime) 🤢 after a couple of hours in the fridge though it turn out absolutely delicious 🤗 thank God! My fear of homemade lime pie has been overcome!

Those look suspiciously like ordinary limes, not key limes, which are of a different variety altogether.

I use ginger snaps as almost all my bases! Love the flavour even with a simple vanilla cheesecake. If I only have say digestive biscuits or graham crackers, I flavour it with nutmeg, ginger, and cinnamon, to give a similar effect.

    January 26, 2024 at 3:01 pm

I make my key lime tart with a crushed choc-ripple base, a dash of food colouring for a eye-catching green tinge and a layer of lime jelly on top. It's not 'traditional' but the choc lime combo is delicious and the colour intrigues the masses.

    January 26, 2024 at 3:01 pm

Ben you are not using real key lime real key lime are small round limes about the size of a quarter and you would need to use about 12 of them to have enough juice to use. My mom grew up in key west when the key lime pie was founded I know a key lime pie when I see one
