I recognized the kimbap right away! I'm part Korean and my mom makes some amazing kimbap (though we've always called it gimbap), and it's been a staple at our home for years! You guys made it just like she does, with the beef, spinach, egg, pickled radish, and sliced carrots. It's so cool to see all the individual components and knowing exactly what the dish is. It's one of my favorite dishes, so I'm so glad you featured it on one of these episodes!

I think I prefer Mike's scoring method – it's much fairer! Jamie actually won this episode, because he was much closer for the first one and then they had similar guesses for the rest.

Please do “Baleadas” or “Pollo Chuco”

    Pommdöner

The third dish "Murtabak", if you just remove the "r" in the middle you'll pronounce it perfectly.

To me, street food or after bar food isn't lesser food, it's food I enjoy way too much and isn't really healthy so I only allow myself to indulge in it when I'm a little less concerned about healthy and more concerned with yummy.

should do some less tasty ones like dried squid (Thailand) and choudofu/stinky tofu (China)

  8. @AbsoluteNut1

I don't get poutine. Who likes soggy fries? Give me crisp fries with dip on the side.

Can you do a show on not eating for flavor? I recently lost my taste and smell to COVID, and I have been having fun just eating for texture and feel. For example, I can only feel the oiliness of mayo, the tingly burn of spiciness, or the zing of vinegar, and sometimes I can feel saltiness. It seems like I need to learn a whole new way of cooking. I would love advice on how to put those things together into a fantastic, tasteless meal.

When I saw the second dish after the Kapsalon as a first one, I was secretly hoping it was a oversized Bitterbal, going for a full Dutch episode 😂

And seeing the third one, it could have been a Vlamtostie!

The danish Fastelavnsbolle would be amazing to have featured on your channel 🇩🇰 There are multiple types of fastelavnsbolle, but for me it is a enriched yeast dough filled with thick custard and jam

  15. @rayhs1984

    January 26, 2024 at 1:59 pm

Tom Scott talked about the first one on his podcast recently, so I knew it immediately.

    Something simple to try:
Taiwan – Deep fried sweet potatos(in batter), then coated with Taiwanese plum powder

Barry rocking the Mythical Kitchen shirt!

How great would it be to see Donair featured on one of these! It would really send these guys for a loop😂 Spiced beef (similar to doner meat), sweet garlic sauce (donair sauce), tomatoes, white onion, and pita. Sounds Turkish or the like, but a Greek man brought it to eastern Canada (Halifax, NS) and changed it up a bit to suit the locals.

  19. @xPandamon

Never saw Martabak like that before

Kapsalon is just a glorified HSP created 20 years after a halal snack pack with extra topppings :/ was hoping you would do HSP as its the original version.

The person who invented kapsalon, Nataniël Gomes, died in 2023. RIP. The dish is also well loved in Belgium ( not sure about other countries)

  25. @blueeyedbaer

    January 26, 2024 at 1:59 pm

We have a very similar dish to kapsalon in Sweden. It's called kebabtalrik (literally kebab plate). It's kebab meat (beef, chicken or mixed) with fries, shredded cabbage, diced tomatoes and cucumbers, onions, pepferoni (pickled green peppers) and kebab sauce. It's served in literally the same paper box and is available in every single pizzeria except for the posh ones.

Did you guys know that most nori is actually Welsh lava seaweed that gets shipped to places like Japan and repackaged as nori and then shipped back across the world?

  27. @Clara-gb8uq

    January 26, 2024 at 1:59 pm

Holland isn’t a country… it’s a region in the Netherlands. Coincidentally this particular dish is from Rotterdam which happens to be in Holland. However, I and many fellow Dutch would appreciate if you would refer to the country and not a region 😅😉

  28. @ikkeisikke

    January 26, 2024 at 1:59 pm

While the kapsalon is indeed from Holland, our country is actually called the Netherlands!

Got to love the Mythical Kitchen merch feature.
