‘Paedophile hunter’ sting caught on camera – BBC News

Published

on

Police have said they may have to work with “ hunters” after new figures revealed a rise in their evidence being used in court. Figures obtained by the show 11% of court cases in 2014 for the crime of meeting a child following sexual grooming used evidence from “hunters”, rising to 44% in 2016.
Southampton-based Stephen Dure, known as Stevie Trap, has seen his evidence used in three court cases this year following stings.
In one case, he posed as a 14-year-old boy when chatting to Robert Babey who is due to be sentenced later this month after admitting multiple breaches of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

US President Trump says Iran shot down US helicopter and vows to respond | BBC News

Published

on

US President Donald Trump has accused Iran of shooting down a US helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz and vowed to respond to the attack out of “necessity”.

Two crew members of the downed Apache helicopter were rescued by an American sea drone, US Central Command (Centcom) said.

“There were two pilots involved, both are safe and uninjured,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Nevertheless, the United States must, of necessity, respond to this attack.”

It was not immediately clear what the US response would be, but any military action risks inflaming the shaky ceasefire with Iran once again. There has been no immediate response from Tehran on the US president’s comments.
