🥊MEGAFIGHT‼️ Wladimir Klitschko vs David Haye | WBA/WBO/IBF/RING Heavyweight Titles | FULL FIGHT

Published

on

Wladimir Klitschko vs. David Haye, billed as The Talk Ends Now, was a heavyweight unification fight between IBF, WBO, IBO, and The Ring champion Wladimir Klitschko, and WBA champion David Haye. The fight took place in Imtech Arena, Altona, Hamburg, Germany on July 2, 2011.

In 2008 after becoming unified cruiserweight champion, David Haye moved up to heavyweight. Klitschko welcomed the challenge of Haye. Talks started immediately between Klitschko and Haye but came to nothing, even after Haye publicly confronted and challenged Klitschko at an event at the ExCeL London in April 2008. Haye reiterated a challenge to Klitschko to fight him in 2009. In his second fight, he wanted to fight JD Chapman who he claimed was a similar style to the Klitschkos.

Haye also added that the heavyweight division was scared of him. In July 2008 Wladimir Klitschko said that Haye was a possible opponent for him to fight next. Haye started to call out the Klitschkos after he knocked out Monte Barret in the 5th round in 2008.

In late 2008 Haye and Vitali verbally agreed to terms to fight in the summer. However Klitschko fought mandatory challenger, Juan Carlos Gomez. Haye then turned his sights to Wladimir.

In 2009 after protracted talks, Wladimir agreed to fight Haye on 20 June in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. In the build-up to that fight Klitschko labeled Haye an ’embarrassment’ after Haye appeared wearing a T-shirt with the Klitschkos’ severed heads.] He also vowed to knock Haye out in the 12th round. Haye pulled out of the fight with a back injury, and hoped to postpone the fight until July 11. This did not happen and Haye was replaced by Ruslan Chagaev who Klitschko stopped in 9th round.

Since then both Vitali and Wladimir had wanted to fight Haye, with Vitali wanting to have a fight with Haye in 2010 which never happened. Instead, Haye won the WBA title after defeating Nikolay Valuev.

On 16 April 2009, Haye wore a T-shirt depicting him holding the heads of the Klitschko brothers while standing atop their decapitated bodies. At the same time, he declared a war on both the Klitschko brothers, hoping to first defeat Wladimir, then Vitali. Two press conferences were held in announcement of the fight. The first one took place in Hamburg, the second in London. There was also an HBO Face Off held in New York City. At the HBO Face Off, Haye said that you could feel the tension and “almost cut it with a knife”. He also thought that Klitschko would punch him during the interview. Yet again Haye refused to shake Klitschko’s hand.

A pre-fight news conference was held on June 27 in Hamburg. No new things were said. Haye got up and said that Klitschko was like a robot, and would malfunction on fight night. He said he was happy the fight was happening, because he was just a much better fighter. He also said that he would show a totally new game plan and would not fight like he had done in his other fights. Haye proclaimed that you could play his new iPhone game David Haye’s knockout, where you could see what would happen on July 2.

Haye’s trainer Adam Booth got up to the microphone and only said: “Enjoy”, and gave the word to Klitschko’s trainer Emanuel Steward. Steward said it was a big fight and he was very happy. He said that he would rate it as the 2nd biggest, only behind Lennox Lewis vs. Mike Tyson. Klitschko said that he did not like Haye’s attitude and that he would give him a lesson. He said he respected him as a fighter but not as a person. He promised to knock Haye out and that it would be good for Haye as a person.Vitali Klitschko wanted Haye to promise to be at the post press conference in front of everybody. Haye promised and said that Vitali should promise the same and not go with Wladimir to the ambulance after Haye had knocked him out. There was a scuffle and some punches between the two teams at the staredown, where Klitschko’s manager Bernard Bönte wanted to end the staredown early (the previous occasion, it had lasted almost three minutes).

The weigh in took place on 1 July 2011 at Karstadt Sporthaus, Hamburg. Wladimir Klitschko weighed in at 243 lbs (110 kg). David Haye weighed in at 213 lbs (96 kg)

When being asked about the outcome, Mike Tyson believed Haye had “no chance” of beating Klitschko, while Lennox Lewis was more supportive of Haye, believing that he “has the speed, agility, endurance and strength to do it”.

Muhammad Ali vs Joe Bugner I | FULL FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS | ABC 1080p | 12 Rounds Heavyweight Boxing

Published

on

Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Bugner was a professional boxing match contested on February 14, 1973.

After returning from his nearly four year boxing ban, former champion Muhammad Ali attempted to take the heavyweight title from the new champion Joe Frazier in March 1971. The much anticipated fight, dubbed Fight of the Century, resulted in Ali suffering his first professional defeat, losing a 15-round decision to Frazier. Undeterred, Ali went on to win nine straight fights in under 18 months before facing off with Bugner.

Joe Bugner rose to prominence around the same time of the first Ali-Frazier fight, winning the British, Commonwealth and European heavyweight titles in a close 15-round match with the famous Henry Cooper. Although he lost the titles six months later, he regained the European title the following year, after scoring an eight-round knockout over new champion Jürgen Blin.

Terence Crawford vs Shawn Porter | WBO Welterweight Boxing | FULL FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS

Published

on

Terence Crawford 37–0 (28 KO) vs. Shawn Porter 31–3–1 (17 KO) was a professional boxing match contested on November 20, 2021, for the WBO welterweight championship.

On July 31, 2021, the WBO ordered Terence Crawford to defend his welterweight title against the #2 ranked WBO welterweight contender Shawn Porter. The former two-time welterweight champion was seen as the biggest challenge in Crawford’s career up to that point, with ESPN describing Porter as “a quantum leap in competition”. As the two sides were unable to negotiate the terms of the fight, the WBO set a purse bid for September 2, which was later postponed until September 14. Crawford and Porter would adhere to a 60-40 purse split, rather than the usual 80-20 split for mandated matches, taking into account the earnings from their three previous fights.

On September 14, it was announced that a deal had been agreed to stage the fight on November 20 at the Michelob Ultra Arena at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, airing on ESPN+ PPV. The event will be promoted and led by Crawford’s promoter Top Rank, in association with Porter’s promoter Premier Boxing Champions. In adherence to the agreed 60-40 split, Crawford is guaranteed upward of $6 million, while Porter is guaranteed at least $4 million.

Vasiliy Lomachenko vs Teofimo Lopez | FULL FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS | WBA/WBO/IBF/RING Lightweight Boxing

Published

on

Vasiliy Lomachenko 14–1 (10 KO) vs. Teófimo López 15–0 (12 KO), billed as Winner Takes All, was a unification professional boxing match contested between WBA (Super), WBO, and The Ring lightweight champion, Vasiliy Lomachenko, and IBF lightweight champion, Teófimo López. The bout took place on October 17, 2020, at the MGM Grand Conference Center in Paradise, Nevada.

López scored a second-round technical knockout victory against Richard Commey to capture the IBF lightweight title on December 14, 2019. In the same month, Lomachenko announced there was an agreement to face the newly crowned champion in a unification bout in April, saying, “On paper, there is an agreement that the match is going to happen, and it’s going to happen in April. However, they have not yet established a date. This fight is happening in April.”

With the fight between Lomachenko and Lopez agreed, Arum set out possible venues. With the fight likely taking place in May 2020, Arum hinted the fight could take place in Saudi Arabia. Lomachenko admitted he did not learn anything about Lopez in his recent win over Commey. On February 8, López hinted at a date and location for the fight on Twitter, with lyrics from the song “New York, New York”, posting, “May 30th. Start spreadin’ the news, I’m leaving today, I want to be a part of it.

The proposed date was eventually scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with Lomachenko going back to his native home of Ukraine. Lopez accused team Lomachenko for making the negotiations difficult. Egis Klimas responded the only wait was finding the venue.

After October was chosen as a new date, the fight appeared to be in jeopardy due to a pay dispute from López, who was unhappy with an offer of $1.25m while Lomachenko was set to earn in excess of $3.5m. With López’ manager, David McWater explaining, “We think that [Lomachenko] probably deserves more money, but not three times as much. We’re hoping that there is enough impetus to get this fight done, and Top Rank will come back and talk to us”.

According to Arum, Lomachenko agreed to reduce his own purse in order to get the fight across the line. It was reported that Lopez would receive closer to $2 million.

On September 8, after weeks of difficult negotiations, the bout was finally announced for October 17, with the venue set for the Top Rank Bubble, located at the MGM Grand Conference Center in Paradise, Nevada.

Originally, the plan was for the card to be PPV. Arum praised ESPN for their efforts to have the card broadcast for cable and satellite viewers. He said, “What I’m most proud of is it’s clearly the best fight since the pandemic started. It would’ve been a major fight even without the pandemic, and now it’s being shown to the public without an extra charge. Nobody has to pay 5 cents to watch it. You don’t even have to be subscribed for $4.99 a month to watch it on ESPN+. If they’re a cable subscriber or a satellite subscriber, they get it for nothing.” Arum believed it would feel indelicate to ask the public to pay up to $70 for the event. This way the fight would be available to approximately 80 million homes.

There was no rematch clause in place for the fight. Lopez said this on the Ak And Barak Show. Arum later confirmed this stating if the fight warranted a rematch, the two boxers would eventually agree to the terms, without being contractually obliged. Arum said rematch clauses were overused and criticised Eddie Hearn, saying, “He puts a rematch clause in every contract, and that may indicate that he is not confident in how his fighter will perform.”

No tickets went on sale for the event. It was reported that 250 people would be allowed to attend under the NSAC’s new protocols. Those attending would be a number of guests per fighter, a few reporters and mostly first responders from Nevada.

During fight week, Lopez hit out at reporters about Lomachenko giving up some of his purse. He said, “He never gave me money. I don’t know why people keep saying that sh-t. I thought I cleared that out a long time ago. Nah, man, my pride kicks in when that happens. I won’t ever take somebody else’s paycheck. You know what I mean?” The main reason Lopez was able to be offered more money was down to ESPN deciding not to have the fight behind a paywall. Both boxers weighed on the 135 pound limit. Neither wore masks during the face-off and the final hurdle would be testing negative to coronavirus on fight day.

Lomachenko was listed a 4-1 favorite by the sports books

Nevertheless, Froch got the win and the 2 points for his victory.
