It is worth looking at whether The Independent Group MPs are required to call a by-election. Some (most notably those in the leadership of the Labour Party) claim that, due to the MPs switching parties, by-elections should be called in their constituencies. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean they legally or morally have to.
