We Gave Our Kids TOTAL Control of the Food Shopping
A 7-year-old just did our grocery shop⌠and Jamie & Mike have to turn it into a delicious meal.
Bazâs son Austin had TOTAL control in the supermarket – picking ingredients that absolutely shouldnât go together (sweet, savoury, snacks, âwhy is that in the trolley?â). Then we revealed them to Jamie and Mike back in the Sorted kitchen with three rules:
â
Use EVERY ingredient Austin buys
â
Make a dish weâd actually want to eat
â
Survive the midway curveball bag that could ruin everything!
Youâll see Austin choosing items in-store, then we cut back to the kitchen as the lads scramble to form a plan, adapt on the fly, and somehow plate up something worthy of praise from not just Chef Ben but Austin himself.
Which ingredient would have broken your brain the most – and did the curveball bag make it better or worse?

@MeTaLkA
January 25, 2024 at 5:34 pm
GREEK Moussaka is traditionally lined with aubergine! Many nations have Moussaka! For instance, Bulgarian is normal potatoes and a meat mixture with milk sauce… Btw try cutting the potatoes into small cubes and layer it – potatoes, meat, potatoes, milk. After the potatoes are tender put a mixture of egg and bulgarian yogurt… đ

Mousakka traditionally has nothing to do with a bechamel shouce worchestershire sauce, wine or sweet potatoes

+SORTED Food The original version of mousaka is made with the eggplant sliced and baked in the oven and then some potatoes (the choice of sweet potato was very smart). Then for the structure you first put the potatoes on the bottom, then the sliced eggplant, then the mince and finally the cream with some cheese on the top.
@RoulinBrooks
January 25, 2024 at 5:34 pm
"In other areas of the world it's known as eggplant." Nice! Better than the usual U.S.-centric "In America it's known as eggplant." Beautiful recipe. A lot of work, though.

When making the white sauce, adding English mustard into the butter and flour mix before adding milk, adds more taste. My family always does it and without mustard it taste bland.
