Well done, lads! As a Swede I can tell you about some mistakes though. To thick bread layers and NO night in the fridge. You make everything (skip that effing salad in the middle layer), coat it and then put it in the fridge overnight. You decorate it the next day. The night in the fridge makes it aaaaaall nice and goey. Folks that eat it will go from Aahhh to Oooohhhh! Promise.

You make a pulled pork then chili then southern Mac n cheese corn bread cake. With cream cheese frosting I'll fly over
the pond and help you eat that sucker. Oh did I say please please please

This is the type of thing Jamie dreams about when he’s asleep 😂😂 knowing his undying love for a sandwich of any kind, just not an open sandwich, replacing the bread with sponge cakes that encase crispy bacon, grilled chicken and molten cheese is his idea of a utopian paradise 😂

You guys need to revisit this, and do it properly: MORE layers, THINNER layers, and way way WAY WAY **WAAAAAAAAAYYYYY** more toppings. The toppings should completely cover the cake …. twice over.

Good job! It looks amazing! I work part time at a bakery where Im not baking the bread but making sandwiches and these kinds of sandwich cakes to be sold in local supermarkets. You guys did a really fancy one! The ones we do have two kinds of fillings, one made with whipped cream, hard boiled eggs and caviar, and one made with mayo, ham, pickles and mustard. The garnishing is very simple; cucumbers all around the sides, then lettuce around the edges on top, wedges of eggs, rolls of cheese and ham, tomato wedges and then either shrimps or roast beaf, topped with cucumber and lemon. These are the standard ones but we also make a fancier one to a special shop and it looks more like the one you made! We use frozen dill or parsley to coat the sides as it actually sticks better than fresh one does.

Thus is what we had for my grandparents 50th anniversary . . . chicken salad, ham salad, and egg salad but in loaf style cakes.

One of the most loved celebration cake here in Sweden. My fav is with thinly sliced roast beef, mustard and pickles. The one in this video also looks amazing.

    January 25, 2024 at 11:40 pm

Bread is way to thick. you know, white bread that you usally have in the toaster.

  18. @thatpandaz6094

    January 25, 2024 at 11:40 pm

The bread is waaay too thick. More layers!!
And put it in the fridge for 2 days before eating lets the bread get soaked in all the juicess and become softer which makes it a lot better

  19. @zirie3332

    January 25, 2024 at 11:40 pm

Watching old videos… Somewhat thick slices of the bread, but now I kind of want Smörgåstårta for my b.day that's commin up in 2 weeks. That's what you do to me. ROFLMAO. Even though I'm actually not a huge fan of it, tha cake thingy, birthdays I love.

The all mighty Youtube algorythm, 5 year too late. But still … Smörgåstårta, best partyfood ever. Specially today seeing it's midsummers eve here. 🙂

  22. @PSIGuardian2

    January 25, 2024 at 11:40 pm

Leave One in the fridge for At least half a day (preferbly the day after), to let the bred soak up the flawors of the filling.

  23. @UllisErkersLeksand

    January 25, 2024 at 11:40 pm

One twist is to make a cake with sauce bolognese and shredded cheese in one layer, and a thick ham-cheese-sour cream and shredded cheese as a second. Top it with one of the two sauces, sliced tomatoes, olives, basil leaves and some more shredded cheese. Bake it in the oven until warm and golden.

You can use pre sliced bread. Just cut the edges off and put it together with no edges above any other.

Sandwich is the best of all cakes, the king of cakes…
