1): Yeah, NAH. After patiently waiting since 2011, I FINALLY was able to get a 64 oz Pro Series Vita Mix 750 for $400 (USD) 2): NOPE. To me, truffle smells/tastes like cellar/cave dirt. UGH. 3): Ummm, hard pass on the bug oil. 4): NOPE on the "Sparkling Tea"; I hate jasmine and hibiscus as flavorings.

Looks like that insect oil has been buried hard. I'm not seeing anything searchable about it since 2021 and the website is gone. That's sad because when they said it functioned identically when baking I immediately went to see if we could buy it now. Nope. Not a peep about it. That sucks.

Isn’t sparkling tea just kombucha without the health benefits of being fermented?😂

Hey! I love Truff hot sauce! It's the best stuff on scrambled eggs.

I don't know if you still check comments on such old videos, but an episode on palm oil would be interesting. I'm a bit leery of the bumpf attached to the oil, because, as I understand it (happy to be told wrong), palm oil is used to replace animal fats, eg lard and butter, in baked goods because it is easily stabilised to be solid at room temperature, as opposed to other plant fats that are liquid at room temperature. So the insect oil is actually competing with rapeseed and sunflower oil, that grow well in the UK anyway. Bringing palm oil into the discussion is a bit disingenuous, as it's not competing with palm oil. You used it in mayo and muffins which would normally be made with sunflower, rapeseed or olive oil anyway- you wouldn't be making them at home with palm oil.

But you would be a fantastic team to discuss palm oil, given some of your other deep dive videos, eg the ones with BASF.

8:18 lets stop cutting down trees, and instead kill innocent bugs … okayyyyyy

Late to the party (this is my first time watching this video), but the insect oil makes me excited, but also nervous. Vegetarians and vegans would not be able to consume it, and it is an additional allergy alert.

  9. @MelissiaBlackheart

    December 19, 2023 at 3:48 am

The insect oil is probably the only way I'd be convinced to use insects in cooking. It is clear and has no particulates in it, so it is just oil. I could deal with that.

    December 19, 2023 at 3:48 am

truffle oil is not made with real truffle so that price is stupid

I’ve never really understood these ‘food trends’ because I don’t often see different dishes and ingredients either come back into fashion or are newly discovered phenomenons

LOVE this show/group but come on, the chef didn't say anything about the nutritional value drop from having powdered fruits and vegetables? it is not the same and it makes me feel like you're endorsing the product without having any reasonable criticism. It's such an ad. Even fresh juices are not nutritionally close to fruit smoothies and juices that you buy lose tons of nutritional value as soon as you open them. Wish you guys would be a literal more fair about your reviews since you're often very honest – but in this case the reactions and conversations you have come across as this company is giving you a huge endorsement and you dont dare saying anything negative about them.

  17. @martinbudinsky8912

    December 19, 2023 at 3:48 am

I wouldnt even consider that insect oil for consumption. For other stuff like cosmetics where palm oil is used? Yeah why not… But not for consumption.

One added bonus to the smoothie product is that it cuts down on used space in fridge/freezer as there are no fragile fruit to care for. Plus it won’t expire near as quickly.

  21. @marthawilson444

    December 19, 2023 at 3:48 am

How much was the insect oil? I would try the sparkling tea.

  22. @seanbarraclough2484

    December 19, 2023 at 3:48 am

Yep, I'm a chips and salad cream rather than mayo guy too. Eggs and salad cream… ì just would rather salad cream in any instance mayo is used.

  23. @mariapaulagl

    December 19, 2023 at 3:48 am

Truffle oil is actually made with artificial flavouring. Truffle essence is not soluble in oil.

Subscription health food drinks has become the latest "thing". I always feel like they're holding a gun to my head in requiring I order to their standards. There is a product I'd love to try, but it's very expensive and sent monthly whether I've used the previous shipment on their timeline or not.

  26. @Mousiegirl223

    December 19, 2023 at 3:48 am

I love the insect oil as a concept for all of it's eco-friendlyness but; I have a deathly shellfish allergy which I have been told means insect are a risk for me as well… So for me it's not a good idea but what a neat concept!!

  27. @debbiew.7716

    December 19, 2023 at 3:48 am

Why is it Ok to kill countless insects? I will take my veggie oil thank you. In the USA our farmers grow field upon fields of lovely non-wiggling sunflowers for snacks and oil! Entirely renewable.

    December 19, 2023 at 3:48 am

I am so up for that insect oil and cant wait for it to replace palm oil as much as it can. Wouldnt mind using it for my own cooking too if it ends up being about the same cost

  30. @vintagelaidbackhippie465

    December 19, 2023 at 3:48 am

Bugs are not healthy no matter how hard it is being pushed on us. Do research on it.

  31. @jf76

Another comment – so many foods seem strange to some if you have never had it, or heard of it. Insect oil – sure I would try it based on this review. If you told a person for the first time that you would squeeze white liquid from a cow's teat to drink, or would ferment a bunch of things to get older sitting on a counter top, or would eat the unfertilized thing that comes out of a female chicken every day – I mean, that is why advertising companies are hired, or better, many generations of 'normals'. The world is always becoming more open minded, at least in this regard, and that is a good thing. I also think that non, or less alcoholic yet still delicious enjoyable drinks are great, thanks for the recommendations. For people who don't drink or are taking a break from perhaps some excess, they don't have to be left out of a celebration or just a simple good time with friends.

I would like to see camping food hacks/tips. I know the boys learned how to cook and bake over a fire but I am talking about additional tips when you are packing food to go camping. Nifty tricks to make time in the forest and by a fireside easier and delicious. I have three tips to offer – sous vide your meat beforehand so that you know that it is cooked and marinated to your liking and you can just bring it in the cooler in a ziploc bag to then sear over the fire to get that extra flavour without peering at it stumbling in the dark. Second tip – gradually assemble one plastic box of your complete camping kitchen kit. It sits in storage ready to go and replenished as needed (with things like a clean dish towel, salt, pepper, bug spray, a couple of bags, tea bags, washing up detergent and a clean sponge) after every trip so you don't have to think about it, and if it rains on the campsite – easy, just pack it up, plastic lid on. Third and most important tip possibly – first one out of the tent starts the fire and boiling water for coffee or tea – also the bacon so other campers are jealous. Any other tips?

You guys should try the other Truff products. The white truffle stuff is expensive but the black truffle products are affordable. I think I got a bottle of Truff black truffle hot sauce for $10 and the truffle mayo is amazing. The black truffle oil was $15 to $18.

  38. @Hibbsi91

    December 19, 2023 at 3:48 am

Wow, that truff stuff is WAY more expensive there than it is in the USA. It's about 25 USD (21 GBP), here, from amazon.

The Bite Back oil is genius. Made from mealworms which are rich in iron, vitamine B12 and B6 and omega 3&6.
Mealworms on their own are good for composting food scraps, and will probably be a popular alternative in future superfoods due to their many uses.
Already a common snack in many asian countries as of today.
With enough funding that industry might pop off, because it can be made almost like the vertical rack systems we use in hydroponics etc for micro-greens.
Requires very little space, and the yield is high.
