In this episode of Chopper’s Political Podcast, Christopher Hope breaks down the Chancellor’s latest Budget and examines why Labour is already facing serious political pressures in its aftermath. With bond markets reacting, thresholds frozen, and internal unease simmering, the discussion explores the challenges confronting Sir Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves as they attempt to steady both their party and the public finances.
Labour MP for Glasgow South, Gordon McKee, joins the podcast following his unexpectedly viral moment in which he used custard creams and bourbons to explain the UK’s debt-to-GDP ratio.

“You don’t know me!” – Steve Reed GRILLED over Labour LOYALTY
Camilla Tominey grills Labour’s Steve Reed after he was seen cosying up to Andy Burnham just moments after Sir Keir Starmer announced his resignation on Monday.
The Houising Secretary has been a close ally of Starmer during his tenure in the Cabinet, but was quick to give his support to Burnham.
Speaking on GB News, Reed defended his actions, saying: “I’ve known Andy Burnham for the better part of 20 years.”
He added: “I’ve had various roles in the on the Labour frontbench, where I’ve been advocating for more devolution, and Andy and I have spoken regularly about devolution, empowering communities over that decade. Now Andy is going to become, I hope, a leader of our party and Prime Minister, and he’s going to put rocket boosters under the devolution agenda that we’ve already been pushing as part of a government.”
Firing back, host Camilla listed the numerous times Steve Reed had urged the Prime Minister not to stand down, calling it “extraordinary.”

Labour GRILLED over controversial prisoner plans: “How many rapists will be released early!?”
Watch as GB News host Ellie Costello grills Labour’s Justice Minister: “How many paedophiles, rapists and grooming gang members are going to be let out of prison early!?”
From September, the Government will bring into force part of the Sentencing Act 2026, enabling some offenders to be released earlier in an effort to relieve overcrowding in prisons.
Reports have suggested that killers, rapists and sex offenders could be among up to 6,000 criminals released from prison early in a few months time.
Labour’s Jake Richards told GB News he was unaware of the official figures, but stated they “need to save 7,500” prison places.
