Watch as GB News host Ellie Costello grills Labour’s Justice Minister: “How many paedophiles, rapists and grooming gang members are going to be let out of prison early!?”

From September, the Government will bring into force part of the Sentencing Act 2026, enabling some offenders to be released earlier in an effort to relieve overcrowding in prisons.

Reports have suggested that killers, rapists and sex offenders could be among up to 6,000 criminals released from prison early in a few months time.

Labour’s Jake Richards told GB News he was unaware of the official figures, but stated they “need to save 7,500” prison places.

BREAKING: Keir Starmer apologises in the Commons over forced adoptions

Published

BREAKING: Sir Keir Starmer has called historical forced adoption a “stain on our history”, as he formally apologised on behalf of the British state.

In a statement to the Commons, the Prime Minister said he found it “hard to read” the testimonies of mothers, children and families affected, particularly as a father.

An estimated 185,000 babies were taken from their mothers in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s.

Sir Keir said many young and vulnerable women were coerced, bullied or misled into believing they had no choice.

He said the practices were embedded across local authorities, voluntary and faith–based institutions.
