No point in taking Barry out on a team anything, he's too much of a ME most ME first guy.

I would be so interested in seeing this tried again now to see how much the vegan options have changed! but also would be cool to explore how there are a lot of vegan options in other parts of the world like Mediterranean food.

It would be really cool to redo this and see what changed in both the vegan restaurant scene in London and how the guys perceive it.

Agree with the boys sentiment of stop with the trying to mimick food what the ingredients are not and instead strive to celebrate what they are and the unique and wonderful flavours and textures they contain.

I continue to find it perplexing that the guys are fine with coconut yoghurt, scrambled tofu, milk substitutes, and so on, but have more issues with meat and cheese substitutes.

I think being a vegan is for sure viable regardless of where you live, but it does force you to cook for yourself more than other diets might… I don't think cooking for yourself is a bad thing however… (I know best what I like after all)

the question isn't how hard is it to be vegan anywhere other than london? the question is.. you live in london, so why aren't you vegan?

    I've been vegan 18 years.

Don't know about rural areas in UK (where there are probably far more fresh fruits and veg available) but in many rural towns in the US (some 60-90 miles from the next town, and often double that to a 'city' that might have vegan options) you are left with just so-so veg and limited fruit to cook with. If you are lucky, the big chain grocery might have tofu and that, along with lentils or beans would be about it for protein sources.

I was taken to Blue Moon in Sheffield and was salivating from the menu. Had a very tasty and fulfilling meal. Then took my carnivorous bf (at the time), and he complained that there were no meat based dishes, and promptly ate nothing. I hadn't even realised.

Disapointing video series. especially from the chefs, yuo should be exited to try out a new kitchen and create delicious and complete meals you never even dreamt of. You seem stuck in your ways and unwilling to explore which is a shame. Vegans have a moral stance, not all hate meat itself they just dont want any involvement in cruelty to animals.
Non of you seem to understand the vegan stance nor are willing to learn about it….that is truely a shame because a good chef can create great meals for EVERYONE not only the ones with the same point of view.
And how about the people who have allergies, they also exist and want great food…

(Been vegan for years now, I eat more varied than I have ever have, my bloodwork is great. And I know vegans who have been vegan voor 10/20 and even 25 years, I know 2nd and 3rd generation vegans who are now approaching adulthood and have never in their live had any animal product what so ever and are blossoming into healthy and compassionate humans.
Please aducate yourselves a bit more before you talk about something that comes close to the heart for so many people. I like your channel but this was a real letdown, you are too young to be this close minded…..)

I love tempeh, tofu and seitan. They have amazing consistency and you can season them any way you like!

I am with the James. As James said, I would decrease the consumption of meat, and As Jamie said just give good food thats all I need.

I know I’m a little late to the party, but this was an awesome short series. I would love to see more stuff like this, ie-3 part series.

  17. @padhmashribabu6985

    January 20, 2024 at 11:23 am

I agree with James. Why try to substitute something we can't have rather than celebrate and make it a new lifestyle. Just like veg and non veg cant be compared. Don't compare vegan food to others to make vegan food

  18. @epowell4211

    January 20, 2024 at 11:23 am

I love vegetables and vegetable dishes, and whenever I see non-animal products labeled "steak", "cheese", etc. it always pisses me off. It always strikes me as an insult to vegetables and an apology to carnivores. "Burger" doesn't bother me as much, since to me burger means a style of sandwich and not a type of meat. I usually see that usage explained as a way to make someone converting feel more comfortable by giving them familiar foods, but if that's the case, it just seems a way to set them up for failure by saying, "oooh, you love a thick juicy steak? well here's a seared cauliflower, that's as good as gets from now on." A commenter said that they do it because, just because someone is vegan, doesn't mean they don't still want a chicken nugget, but it's still a hard hurdle for me.

Three vegan episodes and barely any Indian food, the champion of vegan food??

  20. @xDarkTrinityx

    January 20, 2024 at 11:23 am

Ive essentially cut out milk.. never liked cow milk… I've also started trying meatless burgers and just trying more vegetarian/vegan options. If everyone ate vegan a few times a week it would cut down on the meat industry in a big way… I will say though, 100% harder to be vegan if you don't live near a city…

  21. @projectmicky1226

    January 20, 2024 at 11:23 am

I also think that instead of trying to imitate meat dishes and meats (exceptions for those who may still need that texture but are trying to not eat meat) you should focus on great food, that HAPPENS to be vegan. You’ll get far more people that way who not only will enjoy a vegan dish, but hopefully it’ll replace a meal for them that normally includes meat. Might not make everyone vegan, but you could potentially make meat eating less of an ‘every meal’ thing.
Edit: this coming from the worlds pickiest eater who can make good food but rarely ever eats it because I’m a picky eater 😅😅😅 meat, potatoes, bread product kinda gal. Second point: hunting would still need to be done in the US. Deer kill a lot of drivers every year. I learned that it’s not much of the thing in the UK from the “Lost in the Pond” channel

Watching this back as Im trying to eat healthy. I went vegan for a few months. i did okay it just isn’t for me. I can give up cheese, milk, meat and eggs (that’s a hard one but I can do it). But i was missing fat from fish. In general red meats hurt my stomach. Dairy isn’t too kind to it either but I enjoy eggs, chicken, fish and small amounts of cheese and yogurt. I don’t have a sweet tooth so thats not hard. I do think leather goods are better quality and durability than faux leather/plastic but I also buy things to last not for fads or fast fashion.
