Record number of nurses quitting the NHS in England – BBC News

Published

on

Record numbers of nurses are quitting the NHS in England, figures show.

More than 40,000 have walked away from the NHS in the past year – one in nine of the workforce, an analysis by a health think tank revealed.

It said many of these were often highly skilled and knowledgeable nurses with years more of work left to give.

The high number of leavers is nearly cancelling out the rise in new joiners that has been seen.

How to become a nurse, get the interview, then wait around 2 months for background checks, then wait for three years worth of references to come back, then wait for the date of induction, so in all three to four months before you can start work. Then if you want to move to a different trust. Go apply for a job at tescos which pays near enough the same, yeah start Monday!

Well, threatening to sack staff refusing to have an experimental gene therapy didn't help. Leaving in droves and staff that fell for it are now starting to realise what the NHS are capable of doing to staff.

Hospitals are poorly managed, wards are mixed, wards are dirty and staff are rude to patients. Patients are owned by the hospitals. These issues are now rapidly becoming the norm. Poor pay is only oe factor.
Nurses are also undertaking more of the doctors workload, taking their uniforms home to wash and eating trashy fast food as hospital canteens have vanished i some areas, shortage of money is oly pat of the picture

I’ve heard that some Brits think it’s better in Australia. Not true. Australia’s parliamentary ministers give various Australian Government departments instructions to purposely throttle visa processing plus various regulatory agencies have stupidly biased examiners and examination processes. Here’s our story: my girlfriend speaks excellent English, is a highly qualified ICU registered nurse(RN), holds permanent residency in Australia and has 16 years of experience at internationally renowned hospitals in two other countries — many of her colleagues back there were Aussies, Brits and Americans. The RPAH in Sydney and Monash hospital in Melbourne were amongst the hospitals already chasing her to join them while she was preparing for her AHPRA registration — they loved her and valued her experience. To complete her RN registration here, she’s taken the AHPRA’s Au$4000 OSCE exam twice in the last 10 months and twice those swine failed her — it’s not sensible, and there is no logical explanation for their evaluation — unacceptable. Fortunately for us, she is licensed to work in the UK & the US, and I already hold PR (green card) in the USA. We leave for the US in 3 months. For context I’m Aussie, I have a stable career and comfortably earn over Au$100,000. But why stay in Australia when I can comfortably earn the same in USD while paying less taxes plus the USA gladly accepts her experience and qualifications? We’re not the only skilled couple leaving Australia — and there is a reason over 1 million Aussies prefer to live and earn overseas …sad, but true

Record number of patients don't trust National Health Service would rather take their health into their own hands now it is not a safe place to be as a patient even their staff are walking out what does it tell you it is not the staff at there's a government policy and the people above and all of the over flow of excess mortality now since 2021 I wonder what could be causing all of the overload of patients to access my area since 2021 which mysterious went up and the influx of illegal coming in thousands every month coming into the country who also get free NHS Treatment and have reportedly treated the staff badly and therefore the staff also being labelled this or that staff being mistreated being labelled racist or this or that it goes on and on the staff should be treated better

    2022 population 67.9 million people
    GP’s failed patients end up in A & E ?

NHS managers half the number of beds in 30 years ?
NHS waiting lists, 10 million reason’s no beds ?
NHS meltdown ( new policy colour comes first?)
Covid nightingale hospital’s unused and infectious patients treated in same hospitals as sick, increasing death rates ?
    Art works not buildings?
Failed to treat ill through covid lockdowns ?
BBC spin every boat full of doctors & nurses ? LOL
    40 thousand pounds per illegal immigrant average spend ?( estimated cost 2 billion a year ? , that’s a large hospital a year ?

Tory tactics – run the service down so private healthcare is built up by comparison, then say private healthcare works better and use it to justify dismantling the NHS.

  35. @SJKWHU

    January 19, 2024 at 9:58 am

Shame on every person striking. If you take a job in the emergency services striking should never be an option. They have a responsibility. People are dying directly because of them and the militants that steer them now. The Armed Forces would do a better job anyway, just like they did when overpaid firemen struck years ago. Who is clapping these people now? Deluded Labour Party supporters? I never did. The NHS has been below par for years since so many people entered this country. Enter any hospital and how many staff are British? You can see in their faces, they way they speak and the standard of service they provide that they do not care about the job or patients. Disgraceful.

You should consider investigating how student nurses are being exploited as Health Care Assistants under the pretext they are doing this for learning experience and to get practice signed off. It is a disgrace because, as students, we keep on reporting these problems but no one is doing a thing. We miss basic learning opportunities and we pay this course (£9.250/year) to work! At the end we are expected to function as nurses not HCA's.
Currently, I am on placement on a very busy ward and every morning during handover I get very anxious seeing that I could be by myself and if I am lucky other student, no health care assistant for the team. I have to do all the personal care, Observations, care and risk assessments, etc for 12 patients. I feel like I am being used at max capacity with no regards what so ever… I have reported the problem several times, but all I get is "not too long untill you finish, be part of the team" -> I am the team!

US hits ‘dozens’ of Iranian sites in strikes, as Iran targets US bases in region | BBC News

Published

on

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.

“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.

In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

Trump demands 20% toll on cargos passing through strait of Hormuz | BBC News

Published

on

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.

He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.

Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.

Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.

The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

Explosions have been heard near two Iranian port cities, Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, state media has reported.

US launches more strikes on Iran and resumes naval blockade of ports | BBC News

Published

on

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.

Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.

President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.
