I remember thoroughly following this recipe when I was younger. I prepared it for my mother and father. Now I am making it for my husband minus the beans!!

Thanks for the recipe. It's really tasty. But I think it's better to eat it with potatoes. I made mine with potatoes cooked in butter and parsley.

Wait, a bit of oil stops the butter from burning, how has no one ever told me that

Chicken Fricassee was Abraham Lincoln’s favorite entreé. It’s one of the things he actually enjoyed eating in the rare times he actually ate . He also enjoyed Apples – he said they “agreed” with him, as well as corn cakes and gingerbread .

Rub your hands on stainless steel (kitchen faucet) to rid yourself of the garlic smell.  Not sure why it works, but it does.

I watched 5 different videos of what I want to make prior to. Yours is the best IMO b/c you explained the rationale for everything as you went along like adding olive oil to prevent butter from burning. I have many takeaways: 1) remove the knuckle from the drumstick, 2) coat the chicken in flour before cooking, 3) finely chopped herbs are left in the food, 4) use equal parts wine to broth or water in a wine glass, and lastly 5) use lemon rind vs juice at the end if I want. I just subscribed.

The “You’re quite powerful” from Mike and the strange, shared look with the prolonged silence has me not quite sure what to think lol.

In America what would double cream be called?? Maybe heavy cream??

  21. @SkyReviewsNet

    January 13, 2024 at 9:37 am

FYI: adding oil to butter to stop it from burning is a myth. It'll burn at the same temperature whether it's in oil or on a dry pan. If you want the butter flavour, add it in just before you take it off heat.

Rubbing your garlic-y fingers against the metal of your tap gets rid of the smell!

  23. @tmuzaffa

    January 13, 2024 at 9:37 am

Hey Mike, wash a stainless steel pan or utensils. Something about it just eradicates the smell entirely. If you're careful, you can achieve the same results washing the knife you used to chop the garlic!

  24. @vespermartini2556

    January 13, 2024 at 9:37 am

I've made the same recipe, but in a mustard creme sauce, and Hispanics have a similar recipe using tomato sauce with potatoes, both versions are very good.

    January 13, 2024 at 9:37 am

What is the substitute for white wine??

  26. @yannie1012

    January 13, 2024 at 9:37 am

Please don't whack your hand on the back of the knife like that.. my mum did that too often at home and ended up with broken pieces of bone in her hand. Lift up the thing you're chopping with the knife and bang the whole thing on the chopping board instead. The garlic smell can be removed off hands by just rubbing it against stainless steel, ie on the side of your sink under running water.

  27. @Evultz

    January 13, 2024 at 9:37 am

Can I omit the white wine or substitute it for something?

How in the name of Mary mother of Jesus does Ben make cutting onions so fluffing easy?

  29. @snowworldch3672

    January 13, 2024 at 9:37 am

Done my first try and yummy

Since i don't have mushroom and bean at home i used carrot, potato and celery as an alternative.

Thanks for sharing your cooking ideas. Godbless!

  30. @chesh1rek1tten

    January 13, 2024 at 9:37 am

you can also rub your hands on stainless steel (like your sink) to get rid of the smell!

I always wonder, why do people put the fork on their left hand? isn't it easier if you use it with your right hand? if you are a Right-Handed of course.

  33. @hangfire5005

    January 13, 2024 at 9:37 am

    Never heard of broad beans..

  34. @wcraft30

    January 13, 2024 at 9:37 am

I did this kosher style (since I keep kosher) I substituted butter for margerine, crème for culinary coconut crème and I didn't have broad bean so I used edamame. love this dish

  36. @SaxophoneLover12

    January 13, 2024 at 9:37 am

Could I make it more wintery like if I took out the lemon and herbs?

  37. @geraldhartnett8049

    January 13, 2024 at 9:37 am

0:50 another way to make sure you cut through the joint and not the bone is to feel the flesh where the bones meet and feel for the dip. When you feel that dip, place your knife in the dip and slice!

Also, this video shows just how diverse cooking can be! When i learned how to make Chicken Fricassee at the C.I.A i was taught to blonde sear it since they wanted the sauce to be completely white. Honestly, i wasn't a fan because i like crispy skin, but the only three phrases i was to use with my chef were "Yes chef", "No Chef", and "I dont know, chef." (i used that one a lot in culinary fundamentals…) This is a really good example of how food and the culinary world is subjective outside of culinary schools! It's so awesome to see cause to be honest, this is how i would want my Fricassee (maybe change up some of the additions to it) because i HATE soggy chicken skin.
