They should, but we know they won't. UK is the world leader in money-laundering because of the malleability of our government, and its the same money that finds its way into the pockets of our politicians, their families, and their friends. Every five years we tell them to carry on, regardless. They won't stop, unless we make them

This is not my idea but unfortunately I forget who I heard it off (it may have been a comic like Bill Burr or George Carlin) so I cannot give credit where it’s due, however I totally agree with it. I believe politicians should be made to wear the labels of the main bribers, sorry lobbyist / donators, to them – just like F1 drivers do. Then their biases would be on display when they suggest one course of action over another.

I work for a small not for profit, I have to declare any conflicts of interest and gifts over £50. Its standard practice across the world, I don't understand why this doesn't apply to MP's.

  30. @olivergrayread

    January 6, 2024 at 12:11 am

I find the title of the video a bit strange – 'should ministers reveal conflict of interests?' obviously yes of course they should! 'why are ministers not prosecuted and barred from politics for life for abusing conflicts of interests?' would be more to the point I think

  31. @Welgeldiguniekalias

    January 6, 2024 at 12:11 am

Having police infiltrate a criminal organisation is like sending a virgin to a brothel and expecting them to remain chaste. "Criminal informers" should not be recruited before the crime, but only in the form of a plea bargain. Scaremongering about criminal initiation rites if informers are not allowed to rape and murder only underline the fact that the public is not paying for these people's wages just to have them steal their car as a getaway vehicle and then set it on fire after use.

It seems to me that certain people, who think it will be really exciting to feel like M and have their agents spy on nefarious criminals, have pushed for this legislation, without considering the consequences.

If a policeman wants to infiltrate a criminal organisation, they will typically have to start at the bottom and work their way up. This means they tend to be more efficient and productive criminals than the actual criminals in order to impress their boss. It could increase the chances of convicting the criminals involved, but how does that help the victims that would not have been victimised if the informer had not pressed his mates to commit another robbery?

  32. @leavesinautumn5959

    January 6, 2024 at 12:11 am

Isn't it obvious? In order to keep government "honest" it should be a given. A binding obligation to disclose a conflict of interest is an absolute necessity.

  33. @Sora-yq1td

    January 6, 2024 at 12:11 am

You're joking right? The biggest political event of the year (so far) between Britain and the EU just took place and you haven't covered it on either of your channels…. And you claim your apolitical. Ha!

Making ministers reveal conflicts of interests sounds like a good idea.
