it's not panettony… it's pa-net-to-né… the e is not pronounced like two es or a y it's actually an "eh" sound.

It is never Christmas until I rewatch the Golden Panetone episode

We have hard water too. It makes terrible scale in the tea kettle.

We used to get pheasants every year as my dad knew the local gamekeeper. We’d roast it wrapped in bacon (so it would become extremely crispy) and serve it with Cumberland sauce.

I would buy the panatone if it was still available 🙁

So much fun!!! I have never had panatonne. But at 200 pounds not getting that one!

The studio was decorated to suit the festive spirit of the time of year, the normals understood the assignment and went to the effort to match the festivity and then there’s Ebbers 😂😂 he’s been called a Scrooge in the past and doesn’t do himself any favours to portray an alternative perception

Pheasant was "Government Chicken" where my father grew-up in the US Midwest. Cost? One 12ga shotgun shell.

3 years later I see this. My husband goes hunting in North Dakota for pheasants so it is a regular staple for us in the fall. Not pretentious at all if hunting is something you enjoy. And pheasant are wonderful to eat in many different recipes.

  12. @SarahJeanCole

    January 5, 2024 at 8:09 pm

OMG we have pheasants all over here in northern Michigan. I have so many recipes and have got to enjoy them cooked in so many ways I can't count. It's far from pretentious I'd say but it's so plentiful here. You guys are all so amazing. Lots of love from Michigan ❤️

    January 5, 2024 at 8:09 pm

Pheasant…I’ve only had pheasant once…and that’s only after my dad hit it with the car.

  16. @classy2329

    January 5, 2024 at 8:09 pm

I honestly find it funny you guys even thought about calling pheasant pretentious. At least in the Midwest of the USA we call them ditch chickens. If you get bored you drive around the back roads and when you see one hop out your car and sneak up on it.

Definitely some cultural differences between the US and England. There's nothing pretentious about hunting in the US.

    January 5, 2024 at 8:09 pm

I hate to say it but I love that gold panettone can you imagine busting that on Christmas, legend

  27. @marjoriejohnson6535

    January 5, 2024 at 8:09 pm

80 years ago an artist came for dinner at my parents farm. Dad shot a pheasant the day before in preparation. 2 months later a beautifully framed painting arrived of the farm with dad's work horses. This artist is now known for his seascapes…maybe I have the only pastoral he ever did?

  28. @DimT670

    January 5, 2024 at 8:09 pm

I dont see how the marshmallows are pretentious. They are just special hand-made premium ones. Nothing pretentious bout that

  29. @Mark-jp9dz

    January 5, 2024 at 8:09 pm

Pheasant should be hung for a while before use. That brings out the taste. I have had it as a boned out bird reformed around a forcemeat stuffing. Adds even more taste, and MUCH easier to carve.

  30. @NoExitLoveNow

    January 5, 2024 at 8:09 pm

Stop putting gold in food. This is madness.

  31. @orellaminx3530

    January 5, 2024 at 8:09 pm

STOP SAYING BUSICUITS WHEN TALKING ABOUT COOKIES. That is the most pretentious thing in this whole fucking video.

  32. @Oddballkane

    January 5, 2024 at 8:09 pm

I don't know Ben with his cheese board after a meal. I'm more a cake and custard person.

  33. @jackmeriustacktheritrix

    January 5, 2024 at 8:09 pm

man if you're gonna try and sell a $30 jar of golden coffee you better make damn sure it's GOOD coffee first and foremost, you can't just wrap a turd in gold leaf and sell it for a ridiculous amount of money

  34. @Ana_DFM

    January 5, 2024 at 8:09 pm

Aw, my heart leapt when I heard "venezuelan chocolate" lol our chocolate is really good. I miss it…

  35. @loreleihayden454

    January 5, 2024 at 8:09 pm

I dunno if this helps your ~algorithm tailoring~ and whatnot, but I I definitely come back to your christmas videos several times throughout the year! There's just something special about the cheer and novelty and relaxed fun that makes them such a joy to experience more than a few times.

  36. @stevep5408

    January 5, 2024 at 8:09 pm

Some Italian baker was wandering around in the mountains with gold foil?

  37. @Rapturnal

    January 5, 2024 at 8:09 pm

That's a sad state of affairs that one – I know about the instant coffee thing (hell, I keep asian instant coffee in my cupboard to grab once in awhile). Zero need to embellish it with gold. Nil. Lemme amend this a moment – any time you add gold to food, you're being pretentious. All it really does it rack up the bill and nothing for the flavour. Just don't do it.

  38. @theresamnsota3925

    January 5, 2024 at 8:09 pm

My father in-law hunts for pheasant and venison here in the States. When cooking the pheasant, my mother in-law butchers the pheasant, then wraps the pieces in bacon and sautés in butter and onion until cooked. The bacon keeps the meat tender and moist.

We had the world’s laziest Basset hound. Any time I cooked wild game, it brought out his hunting instincts. He would be under feet and stick like velcro. Other meals, he would sleep through, but pheasant and venison put him on full alert.

  39. @gl3110

    January 5, 2024 at 8:09 pm

I live in semi rural Scotland and the idea that anyone would find pheasant pretentious is quite funny. I see them all the time where I live. I know a guy that does a lot of hunting and I get a pheasant off him a few times a year.

MAKE YOUR OWN PANETTONE……THE PACKAGING IS PRETENTIOUS, HANDS DOWN…..THE PRICE IS RIDICULOUSLY PRETENTIOUS…..

  41. @johannebeerbaum1546

    January 5, 2024 at 8:09 pm

HOMEMADE OR GOURMET MARSHMALLOWS ARE DIVINE…..TOTALLY UNLIKE WHAT IS ONTHE REGULAR MARKET….BUT THIRTY POUND PRICE IS PRETENTIOUS FOR THE WORK AND COST OF MAKING….

  42. @johannebeerbaum1546

    January 5, 2024 at 8:09 pm

    CHOC….PRETENTIOUS IN IT’S ADVERT…….
