The Russians leaving their country for Finland – BBC News
Some Russian people are anxious to get out of the country because there has been a persistent rumour that President Vladimir Putin’s government might soon introduce martial law to deal with demonstrations against the invasion of Ukraine.
With flights to Europe halted, the only way out of the country is by car – crossing this border – or by train.

US President Donald Trump has doubled down on his support for a united Ireland.
He’s on day two of a visit, which he is spending at Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg, County Clare, for the Irish Open.
On Saturday, Trump told reporters he would love to see a united Ireland while at a meeting with the Taoiseach (Irish PM) Micheál Martin in Dublin.
Speaking on Sunday at his Doonbeg golf resort, he said it would be natural to put Ireland and Northern Ireland “together”.
He spoke to reporters after watching the tournament leader Irish golfer Shane Lowry tee off.

Russia hits train in Ukraine after Boris Johnson, top European officials leave station | BBC News
A Russian drone has hit a train near the Ukraine-Poland border shortly after former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and top European security officials had passed through.
No casualties were reported after the strike at Yahodyn, which hit the train’s engine. All the passengers had been evacuated, Ukrainian authorities said.
Johnson and other European national security advisers, including the UK’s Jonathan Powell, had passed along the same line on a different train on their way back from a conference in Kyiv.
Russia said it had struck “railway infrastructure” in western Ukraine, but Ukraine’s state railway company Ukrzaliznytsia said that “quite possibly, the target of this drone could have been the diplomatic train”.

From 2014 to 05/2023, there were about 4 million more emigrants than immigrants in Russia.
The immigrants to Russia were about 3/4 from Uzbekistan, Tajkistan and Kygystan and were mainly low-skilled.
The emigrants, on the other hand, were predominantly well to highly qualified young Russians.

This report is riddled with omissions and factual errors. Poland and Finland do not share a border. Finland has been a part of the Western alliance and its institutions bar one – NATO – for a very long time. The Soviet Union attempted to invade Finland during WW2 but it famously failed to do so.

NO WAY: Russians cannot be allowed to exit Russia into EU countries or any free countries. They need to remain in Russia and deal with the issues. Only the Russian people can change Russia. The reason the vast majority of the Russians are leaving (and demonstrating) is to avoid military service and the possibility of death in Ukraine. These same people were not demonstrating and leaving in masses when the Ukrainians were being slaughtered. Only now when they are personally involved do they want to stand up and leave. Now is the time ALL Russians need to be in Russia and fight t make a change in Russia. Russia needs to be the prison of those that have stood by and allowed Putin to risk the existence of the entire world. The Russians fully deserve what they are getting. This is the only way to bring lasting change.
