@Taco1011

Corbyn tabled it far too quickly. That's why it failed.
@SwissSareth
December 31, 2023 at 10:45 pm
He should have waited until May came back with "Plan B". We all know she can achieve absolutely nothing in 3 days, and when the people who have voted down the deal realise that, THAT'S when I would have tabled the vote.
Oh well, he lost much closer than I expected.

Corbyn playing party politics. Why would the EU give us a great deal? How can 'no deal' be off the table like we are the ones in any position make demands? The whole reason we've ended up in this position is because the EU has said 'no' at every turn. And not just in the last two years, going back to when David Cameron was asking for changes. The EU doesn't want us to leave, that's why they threatened to 'make an example' of us, after the referendum. We have very little to leverage. Labour haven't been trying to help at all throughout this whole process. And they never respected the referendum.

Pretty sad, honestly. Labor basically said "because we can't have all the perks of being in the EU while divorcing them, we should flat-out refuse any and every deal possible — despite it being the ONLY deal the EU said they would agree to — just so we can complain about how we would do a better job if in office… Oh, and take No Deal off the table" (even though that is the only logical next step). "You have THREE DAYS to come up with a different plan." Three days. What a childish slap in the face. Try as they will to blame May for a No Deal Brexit, they are the ones themselves who ensured it.

People in the comments saying things like "the EU has made it's position clear" and "no way Corbyn can get a better deal from the EU than May"… I mean, what are you talking about? This just seems like mindlessly repeating a truism, hoping it'll come true. The EU rejected May's deal, because it involved picking and choosing bits from the single market. A simple way to solve that would be to just stay in the single market fully. And as for getting rejected in the House of Commons, that's probably something Corbyn hopes to solve with holding a general election, and thereby remove the problem of a big tory plurality that is completely divided on what kind of brexit they want.

It is interesting to watch how the divisions within the Labour Party are shown in comment sections accross Facebook and YouTube etc.
There are two Labour parties, a Liberal centrist party, and a centre left democratic socialist party. Corbyn being a democratic socialist naturally opposes the EU as it is a Liberal capitalist trading block opposed to democratic socialism, as indeed Labour originally opposed joining the EU in the first place.
The inclusion of Liberal centrists into the party with the Third Way politics most prominently popularised by Tony Blair has made the party ungovernable.
Corbyn does not lack leadership, the fact is, he is the leader of the democratic socialists Labour Party, the original Labour Party and is continuously opposed by the centrists who want EU style liberal capitalism.

December 31, 2023 at 10:45 pm
The things Corbyn says May should've secured are unrealistic. Nobody could've gotten that good of a deal. She's been dealt a shit sandwich with having to organise Brexit. No matter how it ends now she's finished.
@RK-zo9vs

1. No-Deal
2.May's Deal
3 Corbyn's Deal
4. Cancel Brexit

December 31, 2023 at 10:45 pm
I wonder how many Labour MPs voted against the deal purely so this no confidence motion could be tabled.
Unless something has been said by the eu I don’t see how Corbin can get much of a difference at the last minute. If he gets the opportunity to negotiate with the eu.
I’ve lost faith in our process. MPs of all parties have let the country down with this brexit process in my opinion.

Corbyn would rather cause chaos then form a competent opposition, most likely in an attempt to keep his job. Right when our country and economy needs some certainty shown from parliament he chose himself and his party as more important. That's not to say the government is any better.

Corbyn acts like he is going to take control of the country and the Brexit vote by doing what he as done all along. Be the anti-Conservative Party. Not in my opinion, good enough grounds for a General Election which could still be a hung parliament and another Coalition which is going to cost more tax payer money and most likely guarantee nothing. I think we as a people need to start championing our own vote of No Confidence in Parliament if the decision goes ahead for ahigher General Election as it looks likely Parliament do not want to honour the result of the referendum, but undermine it completely. A shambles and a disgrace.

While I suppose I am left of centre (where ever that is), Corbyn is a muppet, useful idiot who has keep the Tories in power.
