On Tuesday evening MPs voted to reject the government’s schedule for Brexit. Many MPs believed that they needed longer to scrutinise the bill. In this video, we discuss some of the issues that MPs have with the deal and why they want longer to consider it.

While I agree the deal needed at least 15 days discussion if you wish to keep unbiased it should be noted that it was a time constrained piece of legislation at the time as there was no certainty as to what would happen on the 31st October if the Bill had not been passed. Is no deal better than a bad deal, or a hurried deal better than a good deal?

the WA trapdoor transition is a fallacy.
It does not end in "*no deal*".
It could well end in no trade deal but this is NOT no deal.
EU and UK citizens rights, Financial obligations, Nuclear material, NI /
Gib / Cyp, treatment of vat and customs duties all have deals.

Should UK ever leave the EU there will be all those trade agreements to scrutinise, especially the one with the USA, and whichever of our commonwealth friends would be interested.

Ashamed of myself for even giving this video a +1 view. The comparison to greenland smh… and no mention of the fact that this bill in it's large majority has been scrutinised to death for the last couple of years, the vote to delay was clearly aimed at achieving the end-goal of cancelling brexit. Undemocratic at it's core.

Thing is, “no deal” remains unchanged in article50 of the Lisbon treaty. No matter what the UK parliament vote to do, the only legal way to remove a no deal option, is for the EU members to vote to remove it! Where UK law is in conflict with EU laws and international treaty’s, then EU law takes precedent!

The idiocy of much of the english public is unmatched (in the European West at least). People spouting lies on TV, Twitter and facebook, LITERAL LIES, that a google could clear up within less than a minute. But the Brexiters chose not to, just like religious people in other countires, thereby keep on talking bullshit which they have to continously convince themselves to be true. This is England, and its sad. A bit funny too tho..

You know he's a dodgy sales person.
And everyone is expected to trust a known liar and a cheat , someone who helped with public money and contract to bed American model.
At least with Nigel Farage you know what he's saying unlike Boris who pretend and lies like a drug addict.

    December 31, 2023 at 11:46 pm

You say they needed longer than 2 days to go through the withdrawal bill but the majority of the bill is exactly the same as the deal Theresa May pulled together so MP's should be very familiar with 90% of the documents as they have been debating it for the last year or so.

  22. @ThePhoenyx99

    December 31, 2023 at 11:46 pm

Brexit never ends because the majority of UK parliament realizes how bad it would be for the UK to leave the EU but the majority of those politicians aren't brave enough to go against the referendum that should've never happened in the first place.

There is ZERO chance that the EU will force a No-Deal Brexit over a Yes-Deal Brexit. Johnson could phrase his request as, "Hey, shitheads, I command you to give me an extension because you confess that your economies will crash with no deal" and the EU would still approve it.

It amazes me that parliament is delaying, blocking and obfuscating whist IGNORING the result of the referendum. They don't like it so they are deliberately thwarting the democratic will of the people. The people they are supposed to represent. Well.. they are representing some people they are supposed to represent, the ones on the loosing side of the referendum. Looking at this from the outside, it seems absurd. Somehow the UK abrogated governance to unelected bureaucrats in Brussels. Then, when the people wanted their country back, the MPS ignore the referendum. There are large parts of the MPs that are siding with foreigners against their own people and are not only blocking Brexit but a general election. How the hell are you going to get out of this mess and move forward? I am looking forward to finding out. In the meantime I am enjoying watching the wretched chaos.

If Boris didn’t throw the baby out with the bath water, the government could have guaranteed this deal is fully passed and completed long before January 2020, but now that the power is back in the Opposition’s and rebels hands, there is a chance of a long delay for an election followed by a Labour-Lib dem coalition government to hold a second referendum. Ironically, it’s Boris’s tantrums that are the main cause of delays to Brexit. If he had voted for and backed May’s deal back in March, we’d already have left the EU by now. This new deal is worse than May’s, as it has less guarantees on trade regulations and quality of labour rights.

I think that the only reason Johnson wants to move for an election at this point is that he can capitalise on all the frustration surrounding Jeremy Corbin. I think he is quite aware that Jeremy Corbin was pretty much the only reason why the Conservatives won the last election.
