Slowly but surely, the Labour Party rebuilds itself after the disastrous Corbyn experiment.

I think the issue is that the left is not unified and, arguably, never has been. I have always voted Labour and, even with his flaws, feel that Corbyn should have been given a chance. Let's be honest, personality-led politics is always a driving force and Starmer will struggle to secure votes for this reason, as well as for vague, centrist policies. Without trying to sound to defeatist, I don't think his leadership will be particularly trail-blazing or inspiring or memorable. Corbyn may have sounded "a little too radical" but history will remember him more vividly than Starmer.

Starmer seems clear and concise at holding Johnson to account, flustering Johnson visibly at the dispatch box, it wont surprise me if he is the next Prime Minister.

What it means for Britain, is that the leader of the Labour party is once again ruled by a white male.

  13. @LoveLifeHateIsrael

    December 28, 2023 at 11:38 am

Clear we’ve been corralled by the media and the enemies within Labour to choose between two very similar shades of blue. Not really a democracy, discuss.

  16. @frankhynd885

The Labour Party has been in power for 30 years of its 120 year history. With Starmer in charge in 2030, Labour Party will have been in power for 30 years of its 130 year history. Permanent boring opposition party which is not fit for government.

  17. @anish7183

    December 28, 2023 at 11:38 am

Maybe the tories are doing a good job on corona and that’s why labour aren’t saying much, although it doesn’t seem to be the case with t(e high no of deaths.

  18. @Sol_Invictus_

    December 28, 2023 at 11:38 am

Personally to me Starmer already seems like a weak leader and he doesn't seem to have much charisma or speak with passion so it'll be interesting to see what happens going forward

  19. @sheawineland1445

I love Kier, I hope he’s more central than he seems

  20. @Gabrielm624

    December 28, 2023 at 11:38 am

Sorry according to who was corbyn not very good at holding the government to account when he inflicted multiple significant defeats on the government in parliament and helped force the resignation of a number of ministers on different issues ie Amber Rudd on Windrush, this idea is utter nonsense?

  21. @michaelmontana251

    December 28, 2023 at 11:38 am

This guy has the charisma of a corpse

  27. @garvinneely9065

    December 28, 2023 at 11:38 am

I think that Starmer is just a younger Corbin basically , even though I’m a Tory I wish him the best . And he did a good job at sacking Abbott.
