I don’t want to sound rude or disrespectful but I’m sorry, making a sausage roll vegan shouldn’t be a thing because it’s missing the literal most important ingredient of the meal 😂😂 it’s like making a fish pie without any fish 😂 it’s right there in the name it’s literally a ‘sausage’ roll so not having a sausage wouldn’t make it the recipe it’s attempting to emulate without animal products

That wasn’t puff pastry. It was the same pie dough I’ve been making for years at home. Puff pastry is harder.

What about a sausage roll Wellington? Brushed with mustard, mushroom duxelle? Then the pastry. Could be really nice.

I never had sausage rolls till I moved to Oklahoma. They’re quite popular here. But the pastry is closer to that of a corn dog. Served with yellow mustard, we love them. Convenience stores sell a jalapeño variety.

Making puff pastry is one of those things you usually only make a few times in your life – and most likely to impress a girl, marry her and live happily ever after. I know, I haven't made my own puff pastry since that day although I cook at least twice every day since. Puff pastry is just one of those super special things. Our 25th anniversary is coming up in a few days so maybe I should go back and make some puff pastry… it's a very special occasion after all.

I'm confused on the vegan sausage roll. If you take the sausage out it's not a sausage roll anymore. That's like Mac and cheese with no cheese. Looks good but it's not a sausage roll. And I already know people are going to be upset at this but I don't see how it's a sausage roll without any sausage

So THAT is what you Brits call sausage, because it's not the same here in the USA. I might be able to get my local butcher to sell to me pork belly, but you cooks seem to think it is as common as ground beef. It's not, at least not here. I have never seen it anywhere, but the local butcher shop might let me special order. Maybe.

Veganism is so annoying, u always have to try to make it into food that already exists but it’s not as good and is expensive bc so many things are a substitute.
