Article 6 act of union has basically been thrown out by the courts so the protocol can go ahead.
This means the UK is no more.
The Good Friday agreement is no more.

Don’t focus on the UKish focus on the Irish. The partition of our country was a criminal act by a colonial superpower.

Noryhen Ireland should not be dragged out of the single msrket and the cusyoms union.

Johnson said it was a great deal when he signed the withdawal agreement, 43% voted in the tories to get it through and for it to be carrued out as he signed it. Suddenly now it was such a pathetic deal that he has been doing everything to find a reason to rip it up.

The British border imposed on Ireland is far more inconvenient that this 'border' between the annexed part of Ireland and the coloniser, GB.

The UK just doesn’t like the trade agreement. But, don’t want to take the credit for consequences of ripping it up. They will go on until the EU cancels the TA or another government with other interests takes over the UK.

    January 6, 2024 at 3:31 pm

That sounds really messy. Ireland, I understand has become wealthier and more secular than it once was. Protestants and Catholics can co-exist in the same country as seen in Germany and the United States. Northern Ireland joining the rest of Ireland and thus the EU, is the simplest solution and there should be less of a reason why not.

Do you ever just get high and start remembering what an utter stupid shit show brexit ever was, and how it was quite obviously some sinister agreement between very rich individuals with very personal biases and very powerful media representation for their own economic gain? At this point I can have no intellectual respect for anyone who voted brexit or votes Tory.

  18. @constantius4654

Most people in Northern Ireland support the NI protocol. The UK should call the bluff of the minority DUP who appear to loathe most of the people on the island of Ireland.

  19. @kingace6186

    January 6, 2024 at 3:31 pm

Has anyone else realized that this turning into a dangerous proxy conflict between the UK, a former superpower, & the EU, a regulatory superpower? And it is Irish people on the Irish Island who are caught in the middle.
In my opinion, the European Union should fall back on some points before The Troubles Part 2 arise. And London needs to show some consistency with their plans, as well.
Any Irish Person reading this, how popular is this opinion?

  20. @maddwarf7976

From my perspectiv it is pretty simple. Do it and see the TCA gonne.
It must be end of playing nice with the UK Govermant that ignores everybody.
What the Bill actually does, it says "we have no idea how to solve our mess. Because of this we ignore all others and do what ever we want".

The Irish government and the EU have used Ireland as a weapon against Britain from the start. The GFA does not prohibit a hard border between rep and NI. The EU/Irish government saw the border and peace process as Britain's achilles heel. They deliberately sought to inflame the situation in NI and stir up trouble there. All this stuff about Britain being untrustworthy is rubbish. It is the EU/Irish government who have not negotiated in good faith. If there had just been a few border checks in NI there would be no problem. EU/ Irish government bullying and deceit have caused all the problems.

At this point I should pass a bill that unilaterally makes NI a part of I. That'll teach them bloddybuggers

  31. @industrialfun

    January 6, 2024 at 3:31 pm

Why doesn't England get a vote? We pay for the Scots unemployment benefits etc. Also all Scots who've moved to England to find work need to go home, and closed border.

  32. @Gorlokki

    January 6, 2024 at 3:31 pm

    That's a pretty shitty move

  33. @MotoTvWoodsFarm

    January 6, 2024 at 3:31 pm

this seems a unique concept – you dislike the terms of a contract you signed – so you make a new contract that doesn't involve talking to the party you made the original contract with. You declare your own personal contract is better and a improvement you also claim to the original party you made the contract with nothing has changed? Europe will eventually take this through the legal process and it will end up costing the country billions in fines. I would suggest the EU amend some of their rules so that they levy fines and penalties directly onto political leaders who made these decisions and do not punish the citizens of the country

  34. @MotoTvWoodsFarm

    January 6, 2024 at 3:31 pm

any 'deal' that is done quickly internationally is not a 'deal' it is a complete surrender and acceptance of one of the nations terms. 'Brexit' was total acceptance of whatever EU was offering or not offering. Northern Ireland is flourishing the economy is doing exceptionally well it looks like its been gift wrapped as present to become a united Ireland.

UK uses the Good Friday agreement as a hostage… nice move, but predictable one

  36. @Ultravenom1

The British inhabitants of Northern Ireland will forever be the pet of London, just like England, Wales, and Scotland.

  37. @gillianhamilton6535

    January 6, 2024 at 3:31 pm

No border, no problem. Let us just tear up the 1921 annexation of Ulster and forget about all this bureaucracy. Ireland for the Irish

  38. @columbannon9134

    January 6, 2024 at 3:31 pm

This is the problem when England has taken control of different countries around the world, what a mess.

  39. @FenryrGrey

    January 6, 2024 at 3:31 pm

you have the solution in the thumbnail! Northern Ireland joins Switzerland. problem solved!

  40. @TheDrexxus

    January 6, 2024 at 3:31 pm

I wonder if one day the conservative party will admit Brexit was a really, really bad fucking idea. I doubt it, because of politics, but I bet many of them are thinking it.
It's hard for anyone sane or rational to deny the reality of the hardships, both existing and that are coming in the near future, that resulted from Brexit.

Only the most staunch supporters of reality denial still think this was a great move.

  41. @garymorrison277

    January 6, 2024 at 3:31 pm

The eu are still bitter that they have lost one of there biggest funders and are using us (Northern Ireland) as pawns with there alies here ( NI ) against the UK.

  42. @andrewjones-productions

    January 6, 2024 at 3:31 pm

This is how going around conquering other countries, then splitting them in two comes back to bite you on the arse. Serves you right England. You can metaphorically call your little empire 'United Kingdom' as much as you like, but the reality is that is divided.

  43. @seb0rn739

    January 6, 2024 at 3:31 pm

I think NI will eventually end up with Ireland. Brexit made this possibility more propable than ever.
