You got my like on gentleman relish❤

Am I the only one who thinks "Gentleman's relish" sounds like a posh name for something else?

13:58 "Welsh rarebit" is the epitome of pretentiousness: the name of the dish is Welsh rabbit.

Harvey Nichols – Pimp your nuts. 😀

Who else is blitzing on the pretentious ingredients playlist in October 2023?

No 2 we call that "Hochzeitsmandeln" and put it on the table at a wedding reception as one of the gifts for the guests.

I've gotten so many Jordan Almonds in giftbags at Italian Weddings.

Its a sugar warning, so you cant make a cake without it…..

Glad I caught this 3 year old episode because you guys were actually identifying some of the foods you were trying as “pretentious”. I think that ome where over the three or more years you’ve been doing these videos you have become more blasé and pretentious yourselves about what you know and expect from food – or at least its marketing – and it’s cost. Anyway I still think you are all very entertaining but the “normals” are far far far away from any regular “home cook” I know.

I don’t understand why the Fornum and Mason’s relish is more expensive than the original Gentleman’s relish that only one person has the recipe for? Other than the F&M’s comes in a ceramic pot. I would think that the original would be the more pretentious and costly. Can someone please help me understand? Thank you.

Did they ever do Fleur de sol

Please do an episode featuring pretentious ingredients around the world (what is famously considered prestigious/expensive in the country, like sea cucumber from China)!

4:06 Sugar coated almonds are super common at Greek weddings and Baptism parties. They usually come in a baggie with the name of the couple or the baby. Some people eat them but most people I’ve met just keep them and place the baggie on a wall somewhere with other memory decor.

I tried to eat a (probably vintage) silver dragee out of my grandma's cupboard as a small child and nearly cracked a tooth. Just the word "dragee" gives me a wicked flashback to this day 😅

I LOVE how many people in the comments love bringing Ben down, commenting about how he didn't know HRH was going to be there, how she hated strong flavors and likely wouldn't have eaten the dish. YADA YADA YADA. Lemme ask you something really quick, have YOU done anything that ANY royal personage would have had a chance to notice? No? Thought not.

I'm American, and I don't understand the idea of putting metal on food. You can't digest it, so it doesn't add nutrients. It doesn't add flavor. It's beautiful, but so is Michelangelo's David, and I wouldn't eat that. To me, it just says, "Pretentious? Moi?"

Ben gave the Queen his gentleman's relish and now she is dead I am not saying the two things are connected but there isn't any proof that they are not.

Would love to see a selection of fine mustards!

Anchovy paste is a completely normal thing in Italy… In my family we have always had a tube in the fridge. It is normally used on toast, with ham and cheese, or a teaspoon melted with oil and onion for tomato sauce. A small amount spread on pizza or focaccia is also good

  20. @ThiccNutt

    December 31, 2023 at 8:29 am

Immediately confirmed the 'palate of a 12yo' label with being picky about delicious antipasti LMAO

  21. @djcarrotking

    December 31, 2023 at 8:29 am

I find it funny how the colouring on the almond dragees they focused on was the silver, despite it being the only dye that is officially very safe (although two of the dyes that have a warning on them do not have enough evidence to prove that the warning is valid)

  22. @mollymelena6104

    December 31, 2023 at 8:29 am

    I LOVE BEN!!!

  23. @salemstrange2091

    December 31, 2023 at 8:29 am

6:48 the adverse effects are basically just hyper activity because there’s to much sugar on the outside of the almond

  24. @Jourei_

    December 31, 2023 at 8:29 am

Titanium dioxide is what they put in white food coloring (or paint), a bit presumptuous to describe it as something they coat American rockets with, don't you think?

  25. @frogv2745

    December 31, 2023 at 8:29 am

Oh hey titanium dioxide, that's the thing that m&m's got in trouble for

  26. @kamanama3671

    December 31, 2023 at 8:29 am

Silver leaves your body within a week. And the warning comes from long-term exposure in great amounts that can damage organs and leave your skin blue.
