CROQUEMBOUCHE (Profiterole Tower) Recipe Relay | Sorted FoodChallenge!! | Pass It On S2 E8

Published

on

Let’s whip up a show-stopping croquembouche in 50 minutes… said no one, EVER! In this episode, we’ve taken the ‘pass it on’ game to a new, relentless level and challenged the boys to produce a croquembouche, a French dessert consisting of choux pastry puffs piled into a cone and bound with threads of caramel. What could possibly go wrong?

*This episode was filmed before lockdown*

We used the Crispy Cream Puffs recipe from our Deserts in Duvets book, if you want to look at more recipes from Desserts in Duvets, you can find ‘em all on the Sorted Club: Books app. Find out more here: https://bit.ly/3bBGUJs

The CHEFS fricked this one up. Ben, not finding the filling, and James, not seeing BIG pan of ice water which he could have used to cool the caramel pot down with. Idiots.

  15. @maromania7

My biggest confusion was just how 84% was an A. That's a C in southern USA, with anything below 70 being a failure. I understand why other countries see anything below an A or B as bad now, if your C is our fail.

as an idea for another challenge I'd like to see the guys make a vegetarian lasagne using soya mince. I make my own, would love to see their take on it. as a person who bakes I have never tried a croquembouche but might try now after watching them lol.x

  25. @poletooke4691

    December 26, 2023 at 9:52 pm

    84% is NOT an A lmao. It's a mid-strength B

  26. @NemisisFrakture

    December 26, 2023 at 9:52 pm

9:20 "He scored himself an A"
That had me so damn confused as a US student. When I was in school an 84.8 would be a high C.
    But our grading scale was:
    93-100 = A
    85-92.9= B
    78-84.9= C
    71-77.9= D
    70.9 and lower= F

  34. @Miroslava_Ivanova

    December 26, 2023 at 9:52 pm

I keep coming back to this episode, it's simply the perfect storm: it's one of the hardest things they've had to do in a pass it on, imo, and yet they did amazingly, everyone was thinking what they need to do and what needs to be done after them and the result was lovely! And seeing them all realize what they had to cook never gets old 😆

  35. @kurt5079

  38. @kennythefrog1

    December 26, 2023 at 9:52 pm

They made us make one of these things in high school. Year 8, we were 13. And we did it… I'm still impressed to this day.

Exact same order as the vegetarian episode

  45. @ZeroIsMany

    December 26, 2023 at 9:52 pm

The chefs weren't too good at reading the kitchen. Ben finds a bowl that had a cream mixture in it, and completely disregards looking for it. James also misses the cold water he wants right next to him.
