🔥EPIC FIGHT‼️ Amir Khan vs Marcos Maidana | FULL FIGHT | WBA Light-Welterweight Title | Sky Sports
Amir Khan vs. Marcos Maidana was a professional boxing match contested on December 11, 2010, for the WBA Light welterweight championship.
The bout was awarded Fight of the Year by the Boxing Writers Association of America.
On 9 March 2010, Golden Boy Promotions confirmed that WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan and former light welterweight world champion Paulie Malignaggi will hold a press conference in London to announce their world title bout set for 15 May at the Madison Square Garden in New York. This was Khan’s first bout in the U.S. The fight was for the WBA light welterweight title, which Khan won in the 11th round.
Immediately after the fight, Khan stated he wanted to fight Marcos Maidana next and unify the light-welterweight division, suggesting that the way to do this would be for him to fight Maidana, and then go on to face the winner of a Devon Alexander vs. Timothy Bradley match.
Maidana, after failing to challenge undefeated WBO Junior Welterweight champion Timothy Bradley, postponed the fight to June 19 due to a back injury suffered by Maidana.
On May 3, Maidana pulled out of the fight yet again, still citing his back as the problem. The fight had already been rescheduled from June 19 to July 17, and Bradley went on to fight Luis Carlos Abregu on July 17, instead of Maidana.
After failing to secure the fight with Bradley, Maidana’s camp announced that he would fight former-WBO junior welterweight champ DeMarcus Corley, on August 28, 2010 at the Luna Park Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Maidana went on to go and win by unanimous decision.
Khan was looking for a good opponent to next challenge him for his title. One of his possible opponents was Lightweight Champion Juan Manuel Marquez. Marquez decided not to move up in weight and stayed at lightweight.
Maidana then stated his intention to fight Khan: “Stop looking for possible opponents for next Khan December 11 in England. Stop looking for lightweight boxers and face the real 140-pounders. I’ll go to Khan’s home soil to take the other portion of the WBA title that belongs to me.”
The HBO-televised fight took place at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
Guaranteed fight purses:
Amir Khan ($1,500,000) vs. Marcos Maidana ($550,000)

😴DEVASTATING KO‼️ Canelo Alvarez vs Amir Khan | FULL FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS | WBC/RING Middleweight Boxing
Canelo Álvarez 46–1–1 (32 KO) vs. Amir Khan 31–3 (19 KO) was a professional boxing match contested on May 7, 2016, for the WBC, The Ring magazine and lineal championship.
It was the first major sporting event to be held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
On 2 February 2016, Golden Boy Promotions officially announced that Canelo Álvarez and Khan had reached an agreement to compete for Álvarez’s WBC and Ring Magazine middleweight titles. The bout was scheduled for 7 May, at a catchweight of 155 pounds, planned to headline an HBO pay-per-view event during the Cinco de Mayo weekend.
Álvarez was committed to challenging elite opponents and acknowledged Khan’s credentials as both a decorated amateur and a two-time world champion. For Khan, the opportunity was meaningful, after struggling to secure high-profile bouts. Khan was confident that his speed and skill set would pose difficulties for Álvarez, even moving up in weight.
Both fighters entered the fight on impressive winning streaks: Álvarez had four consecutive victories following his loss to Floyd Mayweather, while Khan had achieved five straight wins since moving up to welterweight.
On February 4, the Nevada State Athletic Commission unanimously approved the bout for May 7 at the T-Mobile Arena. The contest was scheduled as the first boxing event at the newly opened venue.
Despite Canelo’s size and strength advantage, Khan was confident in his ability to secure a win, stating while a win over Canelo would hold greater significance than Mayweather’s victory in 2013. Khan viewed it as a chance to reinforce his standing among the elite fighters globally. He studied Mayweather’s strategy, which successfully mitigated Canelo’s physical advantages through movement and defense. Khan was aware that Canelo would have gained additional experience and strength since that fight but maintained that his own speed and footwork would be crucial.

Evander Holyfield vs George Foreman | FULL FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS | WBA/WBC/IBF Heavyweight Boxing
Evander Holyfield 25–0 (21 KO) vs. George Foreman 69–2 (65 KO), billed as The Battle of the Ages, was a professional boxing match contested on April 19, 1991 for the WBA, WBC, and IBF heavyweight championships.
On October 25, 1990, Evander Holyfield defeated James “Buster” Douglas by third round knockout to become the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion. Prior to his match with Douglas, Holyfield delayed a potential fight with Mike Tyson, instead agreeing to face 42-year-old George Foreman for the titles should he defeat Douglas.
Since ending his 10-year retirement in 1987, Foreman was a perfect 24–0, with 23 of his wins coming via knockout. With Foreman’s popularity at an all-time high coupled with the fact that he could possibly become the oldest Heavyweight champion in boxing history, anticipation for the bout was high. As such, the two fighters received high payouts, Holyfield was guaranteed $20 million, while Foreman took home a guaranteed $12.5 million.
Despite his age, the outspoken Foreman remained confident that he could dethrone Holyfield and in the months before the fight often said as much in the media. Not to be outdone, Holyfield’s manager Dan Duva lampooned Foreman’s weight, infamously stating that the fight should be called “The Real Deal” vs. “The Big Meal” and “Some people say George is as fit as a fiddle. But I think he looks more like a cello.”
