If governments were keen to stop budget airlines charging so litle, they would do it right now, but they don't for financial reasons more than ever post-pandemic in order to balance covid losses. Instead governments invite and promote their nations conscient of the drawbacks resulting from that.

Is quite a grey area taking though actions when turism means a very considerable source of income.

enough with mass tourism, in Italy we are fed up with the mass of foreigners, who then most only create damage to the Italian artistic and cultural heritage, they come to Italy with caravans, campers, poor tourism, creating only so much confusion, traffic jams in the streets and overcrowding, only driving up prices. The complaints of many countries are right, such as Norway and Spain (islands of Majorca) where they are now exhausted from having an overcrowding of tourists, including, especially in Italy, most of them are German, Austrian, Dutch, English, French.. enough, in Italy we have the balls swollen …. an idea to counter this phenomenon of these wild and even rude holidaymakers, would be to introduce a tourist tax at the entrance of at least 1000 euros with prices dedicated only to non-resident tourists, higher prices than people residing in Italy, since this wild mass tourism only creates damage, therefore it must be removed from our territory. Puglia is right to charge 5 euros for a coffee, it's still not much, a coffee should cost 20 euros for all foreigners, so finally the wild foreigners go to Albania. The tourist tax of at least 1000 euros per person should be paid via a dedicated internet application before entering Italy, displaying the payment on their vehicle upon entry into Italy, so that the vehicles can be controlled by the police if settles with the payment of the entrance fee. those who are not up to date with the payment must be immediately sent back, no entry into Italy for them. The same goes for campers, which have become too many and annoying by now, also given their boorish behavior, often turning car parks into real illegal campsites, with deck chairs, tables, grills positioned in car parks, in addition to the dirt they leave on the street . Also for these camper owners, there should be a high annual tax, even 5,000-10,000 euros per year, classifying the campers as luxury vehicles, also increasing the cost of insurance and stamp duty, so as to significantly reduce the number of campers in circulation and return in the early days when there were very few campers in circulation and people were more polite and respectful, and there should also be a law in which loans should not be provided for the purchase of campers. It is time for world governments to intervene very harshly to counter mass, overcrowded, peasant and rude tourism and drastically reduce the number of campers in circulation so that there are very few, already one who buys a camper with loans and debts cannot be considered a tourist which brings well-being, since buying with financial means not having money, therefore it means filling the camper with food from home, what kind of well-being can such a person bring to the country where he goes on holiday???? Nobody!!!! indeed it only creates confusion and overcrowding, as well as perhaps leaving dirt!!!!

I was fortunate enough to be one of the lucky few who could travel in the pandemic summer of 2021. It was a nice and quiet city – almost without tourists. https://youtu.be/mJnBqEPNvTs

And who is to blame for the mess??? The tourists? Or the incompetent city council???

If Venice does not want massive cruise liners pulling into the lagoon, then the city council can simply ban them. I think it’s very much the case of wanting their cake and eating it too..

Please don’t take it out on tourists.

I went on a day trip from Verona to Venice but the tourism made Venice basically impossible to enjoy. Plenty of the tourists were respectful, but many were really obnoxious, waving selfie sticks around – to the point where I got smacked in the head by one. Even in the Doge's palace where they'd banned selfie sticks, people were still using them. Very sad to see and I dread to think how difficult it must be to live there.

US hits ‘dozens’ of Iranian sites in strikes, as Iran targets US bases in region | BBC News

Published

on

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.

“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.

In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

Trump demands 20% toll on cargos passing through strait of Hormuz | BBC News

Published

on

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.

He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.

Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.

Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.

The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

US launches more strikes on Iran and resumes naval blockade of ports | BBC News

Published

on

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.

Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.

President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.
