Coronavirus warning after “major incident” declared in Bournemouth – BBC News
The government’s chief medical adviser has warned against large gatherings in hot weather after half a million people flocked to Bournemouth beach today.
Chris Whitty said coronavirus cases would rise again if people ignored social distancing. A major incident was declared in Bournemouth on what’s been the hottest day of the year as roads became gridlocked and local services were stretched to their absolute limit.
The Council said they were appalled by the irresponsible actions and behaviour of the crowds. The Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the government had the power to shut beaches and would take action if there was a spike in covid cases.

Thirty US states are suing Meta for over $1 trillion, accusing it of knowingly designing Instagram and Facebook to be addictive and harmful to children, while concealing what it knew.

At least 224 people are dead and a state of emergency has been declared after Colombia was hit by one of its largest earthquakes in years.
The death toll is likely to rise, with more feared trapped under collapsed buildings.
The magnitude 7.4 quake struck at 07:34 (12:34 GMT) at a depth of 103km (64 miles) in Chocó province, the country’s geological service said. It was felt across an enormous area, stretching for hundreds of miles across western Colombia.
Many of the deaths have been concentrated in Cali, Colombia’s third most populous city.

Just typical British mentality, when the weather is nice, they all swarm there like flies regardless of whether its packed. Those with common sense turn back and go elsewhere. Both the Gov and people are to blame so just lockdown the beach the next day until its safer to reopen, end of story.
