I love this crockpot!>>>ur2.pl/1064 I own one and bought this for my daughter. Great size, the timer is such a plus, just set the time and once it's done, it goes to warm automatically. No need to worry if you're late getting home. I also love the locks on the top of the crockpot! You can take it in the car and not worry about spills, the top stays on and you carry it using the handles on the side. It's easy to clean because you take the pot out when you're done, wash it then put it back to store it. So many reasons to love this crockpot!

I think it is better to show the recipe here  so we can print it so i did
    ·  glug olive oil
    ·  2 lamb shanks
    ·  1 tsp ground cumin
    ·  1/2 tsp ground turmeric
    ·  1 tsp ground cinnamon
    ·  1 tbsp tomato purée
    ·  4 plum tomatoes
    ·  1 pinch saffron
    ·  400 ml chicken stock
    ·  1 handful new potatoes
    ·  1 glug olive oil
    ·  1 tsp cumin seeds
    ·  1 tsp cornflour
set your slow cooker to a high heat. slice the onions and finely chop the garlic.
heat the oil in an oven proof saucepan, then brown the lamb shanks on all sides. remove the shanks and chuck them into your slow cooker.
add the onion, garlic, and the dry spices to the cooker too. hack up the tomatoes.
squeeze in the tomato puree, chopped tomatoes, saffron and the chicken stock. cover the pot and cook for a minimum of 4 hours.
add the potatoes to a pan of salted water and bring to the boil for 20 minutes. drain the potatoes when very soft, then add a glug of oil and crush them with a fork. toast the cumin seeds in a hot dry pan, then stir through the crushed potatoes.
pluck the lamb shanks from the slow cooker, mix the cornflour with a little cold water and stir into a tbubble for another minute or two then serve the shanks over the mash and pour over a generous amount of sauce. serves 2’s left.

I love lamb! That looks amazing! Have you done anything with lamb and dark ale?

  18. @nisakepli

    January 9, 2024 at 2:13 pm

Is there any particular reason why you guys chose to use a chicken stock cube as opposed to beef stock cube since you guys are cooking with lamb shanks?

Weirdly, this video showed up in my 'what to watch' section and when I realised it was uploaded a week ago I was curious as to how I hadn't seen it. I went to the Sorted Food channel and it's not showing up for me in the 'uploads' section. How strange!

The supermarket near my house sells packages of lamb but it has different cuts and in smaller pieces than the shank you used. Are all cuts good for this recipe?
I don't have a slowcooker so I'm planning on cooking this in the oven. How long will the cooking time be, considering I'll be using smaller pieces?

    thank you 🙂

could I do this with chicken?

  32. @subharor

    January 9, 2024 at 2:13 pm

one question guys.. won't the tomato paste delay the cooking process because of its acidity? also,
if you fry off the onions initially the dish won't be too sweet

The only thing I do not get is when using the corn starch as a way to thicken the sauce, does that not need to boil to actually thicken anything? I was not aware a slow cooker could actually get hot enough to boil anything. Am I wrong? Regardless a great looking dish.

I tasted lamb once that someone had in their fridge. It had a lot of garlic on it and it was delicious. I ate it cold.  Before I had tasted it hot and I didn't like it. Seems like I have heard that lamb does taste better cold. It probably would be good hot if you cooked it Ben. 🙂
