Interesting; however that "Poppy" thing is so screechy and cringey I'll make a point to avoid ANYTHING with her in it at all costs.

    I love Poppy!!!!!!!

Also, I tried Ben's recipe (and and shared the video), but it's the best!

7:41 vs 8:25 Number 2 is the winner for me. That crunch is so appealing to me.

The chefs didn't do it better. They did the classic, old, known and traditional recipe and as with a lot of these dishes you choose for this format the traditional is the traditional for a reason and the reason is it tastes amazing, works, often it's actually slightly cheaper than the fancied up ones and it's been tested and tasted over and over for possibly hundreds of years by millions of eaters. Try picking dishes that don't have the history, tradition of favourite regional dishes.

I use bacon grease. It provides better flavor. You can't judge a yorkshire without gravy!!! It's like going to work without trousers. 🤷

I thought the ones with herbs and such in them were called pop overs.

A good Yorkshire pudding might genuinely be my favourite thing on a Sunday roast because you cannot go wrong with a dense crispy yorkie with a light fluffy centre to mop up all the gravy or encase the contents of the plate like a bowl making it the perfect vehicle to eat sandwiched roasted meat, crispy roast potatoes with the fluffy middle and veg as the ultimate roast dinner sandwich! I rarely have them but plate sized Yorkshires that everything is piled into is one of the best things British cuisine has to offer, the ultimate Sunday best burrito effectively but what is better than a tortilla? A crispy yorkie with a fluffy middle obviously!!😂

Never had Yorkshire pudding, so I want to try it since it seems pretty straightforward, but I have no idea what it's "supposed to" be like, so if I do it, no clue if I've done it right I guess.

I am an American. A little perplexed as to where the 'pudding' is in Yorkshire Pudding? An honest question. To us a pudding is more like a custard. This process reminds me of a recipe called 'popovers." We wolf not serve that at the end of a heavy meal, at least in my experience. They would be a breakfast or brunch item topped with butter and jam.

  21. @emmamcdonald3410

    January 8, 2024 at 7:54 pm

    totally pointless item of food.

  22. @juliagregory5696

    January 8, 2024 at 7:54 pm

I used the wrong flour once and the end result was a pancake and so stodgy but we ate it any way dousted in gravy yummo x Julia

You should have bloomed the rosemary in tallow before adding it to the mix or at least in the bottom of the muffin tin, so the rosemary flavor is not as assertive.

I've just found, and am binge-watching SortedFood. Have enjoyed every minute of every episode….so far…..This episode is my first time with Poppy. I'm horrified and slightly nauseated with her hair everywhere. Disgusting. Chefs and nurses should have their hair cut short or fully tied up/back and kept out of the goings-on. Her hair swinging around, even just during taste-testing made me very uncomfortable. Dirty for the food, dirty for her hair. YUK! Where was our health and safety monitor?

My family always does Yorkshire Pudding in the deep roasting pan in which the beef is cooked, so all the lovely meat juices get into the pudding. Like Ben, we rest the batter overnight in the fridge, and we always get lovely peaks and valleys to hold the gravy., so you don't really need much in the line of added flavors Here in the States, we call them popovers when muffin tins are used, for obvious reasons.

A family favourite of mine. Toss them in a bag with cinnamon sugar while they are still warm. Turns it into a perfect dessert for a cold night.

Not sure why, but Poppy and Ben always feels excellent together

  38. @camlinley5758

    January 8, 2024 at 7:54 pm

So boys been watching for ages and this is my first comment 😬
Batter has to stand over night
Batter has got to be cold straight from fridge always into searing hot beef dripping
My dad used to drop caramelised onions in if he was making a tray pudding (baking tray ) but always put a oxo cube in (trust me try it )
Ps Im Yorkshire born and bred 😎👍

    January 8, 2024 at 7:54 pm

Loving all these Poppy videos! She's such a good energy and a very different energy from James. I like that you didn't try and replace James, you invited new energy into the team! More Poppy!

0:28she isn’t real chef btw. She was only trained somewhere in Michelin restaurant and all she does is cooking on TikTok and selling her cookbooks. She doesn’t cook for the ppl in restaurant anywhere.

  42. @tshegofatson

    January 8, 2024 at 7:54 pm

As per ush Ebbers smashed it 🔥

  43. @randomistmech

    January 8, 2024 at 7:54 pm

1 minute in and Mike has already messed it up completely. Flour first, everything else is determined by this. You can adjust the number of eggs, the amount of milk etc. can vary based on flour. It isn't specific volumes that make a difference, it's the consistency. Aim for a single cream consistency. Ingredients at a minimum are egg, milk, flour, pepper. Eggs are roughly number of servings +1, depending on taste. Herbs can be good, but really this is just a vehicle for beef. The tray should be pre-heated, fat actually doesn't matter that much, it just needs to be hot, in my experience, the fat doesn't do much for the flavour unless you lower the temperature too much and get soggy puds. You need a decent amount in each ring (sorry this only comes with experience, but wiping it on with a kitchen towel will not cut it, you need to deep fry the bottoms). When you pour the batter into the tray you need to be FAST, and get it back in the oven ASAP. The oil should be hot and you want it to still be hot when it goes back in. For temperature, 240C is too hot. That's what you'd do to make it faster for service. Put the oven at about 190C (depending on oven) and DO NOT open the door until done-they'll collapse. If you get the mix and temperature and timing correct they'll steam, and deep fry and shallow fry and rise to be great puds. Also, never restrict their headroom. If you get it right, they'll be huge.

So what are the differences between a Yorkshire pudding and a popover?

  45. @vedantsumaria1

    January 8, 2024 at 7:54 pm

I feel they just keep making this. I mean enough already

  46. @sherievaughn6475

    January 8, 2024 at 7:54 pm

I’ve been making a full pan of Yorkshire pudding for the last 32 years using a recipe from colonial Williamsburg. Basic batter mixed and then chilled for an hour then poured into the sizzling drippings at 400F for 15 mins then temp down to 375F for another 15 mins. Sure, you have to slice it into squares but then you lay some of the roast beef on it, fold it over and OMG delicious!
