I would seriously advice you to let the dough rest in the fridge over night. And for windows, use hard candy. I usually use Vicks.

Did none of you had parents, family, neighbors who showed you how to cook, bake, etc. ? Some of these things are basic. If you have children, making a gingerbread house is fun.

One of my most cherished memories is when a local comic book shop owner baked a crap ton of gingerbread, and had the regulars at the shop build, well, basically a city block. I was one of the regulars. We built that block, iced it, filled the buildings with candies, the whole nine yards.
Then the entire thing (it was on a sheet of plywood) ended up at a local sci-fi con, and there was a drawing. The winner got to put on a Godzilla mask and stomp around the "city." Then everybody got to eat the remains. It was GLORIOUS!
Couldn't do that today, of course, somebody would complain about health codes or some such.

I have seen a lot of gingerbread building videos but not once has anyone ever used isomalt as glue. xD As long as it works, why not.

Having made multiple Gingerbread -houses, -ambulances and -D20s, I was very surprised the boys decorated after assembly? I always decorate everything flat, let dry and assemble after, it's a lot easier! Maybe a time limit thing though.

Watching you guys roll things out before you know your measurements gave me so much anxiety lmao. First rule of gingerbread houses: measure twice, roll once!! Otherwise your dough will be hard as a rock :p
