Interesting what's rare in the UK vs New York. I think most NYC foodies have eaten nopalito and at least seen jelly fish on menus.

I'm in rural Missouri, & our Walmart usually has fresh cactus dethroned, the size of a pot holder for sale. They have even given them out at the food pantry. It's pretty common here. Not that everyone cooks with it, but it is easy to get a hold of here.

The only correct answer to "Is that YOUR slice?" is "Yes, yes it is."

Jellyfish isn't really eaten here in Malaysia.

5:36 Youve never heard of eating cactus before!?!?!? Maybe its just because I live close to the Mojave, but we eat and drink all sorts of cactus things here and theyre all delicious.

Tequila is a cactus liquor too

the ocean, a lake, a bath reminded me of Joey going Paper, Snow…A Ghost

Whoever is in charge of picking music deserves a raise. The music for this video's "remeber to click like" card really slapps, and i catch myself noticing excellent music choices often in your videos. Just one more thing you guys do better than you even need to

In ukraine we like to have cold/fresh cup of kvas in the summer. It truly refreshes you up😂

Never had kvass and I'm Polish 😂

It would be so interesting to see a cooking battle where the boys have to use at least one of these ingredients that they featured throughout the series, to give them the opportunity to learn more about the ingredients, where and how to use them, and the culture!

  16. @bentoth9555

    January 6, 2024 at 4:20 am

I knew where kvass was from thanks to Max Miller's video on borscht. He brings it up as an ingredient.

Texas here, we have the pickled nopalitos on the grocery shelves here and the raw cactus paddles are in the fresh produce section. Use them as you would a bell pepper. Also, they are supposed to be very good at helping with high blood pressure.

I love these style of videos mostly for the fact that I am exposed to some new ingredients from somewhere else on the planet, learn about them in detail and continually expand my education of food. Without these videos I would never have learned about these global ingredients and therefore never use them unless I followed a recipe so learning about them gives me the confidence to buy them and experiment with them and expand the variety of potential dishes I could make

Can any type of cactus be used?
As prickly pear cactus is becoming a huge problem here in Queensland and if it can be eaten that could be worth looking into.

  21. @MrThomasHart

    January 6, 2024 at 4:20 am

Actually, Jamie was not really wrong saying "Germany" about the kvass. It is just called as what it is, a Brottrunk = Bread Drink. Because Germans call things as they are 😉

  22. @jillspalo1194

    January 6, 2024 at 4:20 am

Here in Switzerland we have a bubbly drink -Rivella made from whey. It’s a soda drink. You should try it, if you never have!!!

  23. @DragonFantacy

    January 6, 2024 at 4:20 am

The best part of cactus is the cactus pear. Just peel it, CAREFULLY, and eat it. Yummy! 🤤

  24. @teodoranton5017

    January 6, 2024 at 4:20 am

Hello, I'm from romania, and I didn't have gira kvass. But we have someting that is allso fermented from old bread, it is named bors, it is used in soups to make them sour. It goes well with fatty fish, like catfish, carp, etc.

  25. @ryana5337

    January 6, 2024 at 4:20 am

I’d also add that jellyfish is a common item on flights to Japan as well. It typically comes as a salad with a very nice soy sauce and sesame oil dressing.

This might be a dumb thing to ask, but whats the title of the song playing in the intro?
Great video, you guys manage to make it informative AND funny. your coocking books are awesome as well. Sorted food turned out to be awesome!

guys, hold the chopsticks in the back. it is easier to eat that way and looks less weird.

  28. @Burning_Dwarf

    January 6, 2024 at 4:20 am

Kvass is the pride of all 13 slav nations, and always better homemade.
That being said, not to stir anything, but the best commercial kvass is Ulmaņlaiku Kvass, in my humble non slav opinion

  29. @drunkitf0x

    January 6, 2024 at 4:20 am

I have had cactus before I work at Save A Lot and we sell it. We sell that exact brand.

  30. @LynnHermione

    January 6, 2024 at 4:20 am

    Ancient Rome also ate jellyfish

  31. @cooldead

    January 6, 2024 at 4:20 am

  32. @DDaggert

In my mind i'm just see Joey when Jamie says "The ocean, a lake, a BATH".

  33. @markevans9188

    January 6, 2024 at 4:20 am

nopales. seems like they have a lot more uses .

  34. @marie-evest-germain3179

    January 6, 2024 at 4:20 am

Jamie actually gave a nice idea for a challenge. Choose a exotic ingredient and having to do multiple recipes with a time restriction 😂

  35. @petikovacs8109

    January 6, 2024 at 4:20 am

Anyone from hungary heard from that drink? Dude im 21 never heard of it

  36. @rachelripstra1839

    January 6, 2024 at 4:20 am

You can eat the nopales fruit too. Try another cactus food: prickly pear!

  37. @avinashkuduvalli

    January 6, 2024 at 4:20 am

@sorted the chapter titles are a but wrong. Kvass not Vass for one, and Kokum and curry have been split up for no apparent reason.
