what happens if the internet goes down, or there is aproblem with the servers, my current bank is always having network problems, and as for shops / bars only accepting cards, what happens if they loose internet connection? do the customers get free drinks, or does the place have to close? those who only accept cards will have to make plans

Cashless society means that they are cutting costs by severely reducing bricks and mortar banks with staff costs etc and the government likes the idea of reducing the informal grey economy ……ie can you do it for cash mate ….. which as usual will only affect a very small minority not those such as criminals etc

It makes sense for paying for parking where the cost of collecting the coins is high. Making machines to be safe to collect them is also very expensive. So they should REDUCE the existing cost to use card, not the other way round.
Instead of making a cashless society let's concentrate on making a politician-less society.

  23. @jessicafoster5717

    January 4, 2024 at 1:03 pm

I know this is a side note, but it strikes me as idiocy that Councils are complaining about how people pay to park their cars. Either it is economically viable or it isn't. And if it isn't economical to charge for parking without actively discriminating against cash users then is it time car parking becomes free? Then you dont incur the costs of managing all those time limits. Life becomes easier, people less stressed and can stay in town centres spending money without watching the clock.

How do these asses of banks expect people to pay their BILLS?
In addition to this some shops that well remain name less are changer more for you to pay for goods in cash.
Pay via contact less actually cost more money execute than using cash, especially on smaller business.
