Jordan Peterson on the ‘backlash against masculinity’ – BBC News

Published

on

The Canadian psychologist Jordan B Peterson says there is a “backlash” against masculinity and “a sense there is something toxic about masculinity”.
He told Hardtalk’s Stephen Sackur: “There are biological differences between men and women that express themselves in temperament and in occupational choice and that any attempt to enforce equality of outcomes is unwarranted and ill advised as a consequence.”
Mr Peterson is a professor of psychology at the University of Toronto and author of 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote for Chaos.

What's amusing is that the script that or the effort from the interviewer is only driven by the pursuit to gain the fame of the one who stumbled Jordan..

This he miserably fails at since his temperament is clearly indicative of his petty mindset of rising above the rest by standing on the shoulders of someone who's neck deep in a treacherous river🤭

Guess it's just how people in the media industry are trained to be😂

I absolutely dont like all those talkshows that are toxic. The interviewer doesnt listen to what the interviewed person has to say, they only listen in order to find something else that they can attack them on. They dont let the interviewed person finish, they simply attack them with radical questions and claim that they have in the past said something what they never did. Talking with someone who wont listen to you no matter how true it is what you say, and with someone who does not have the ability to use his own mind instead of asking questions that will people who watch more aggressive and therefore willing to watch the interview until its finished is truly toxic. In all those kinds of talkshows i have seen now that the goal was never to actually give the people the possibility to speak and i think thats then a waste of time. Its better when we want to learn about what those people have to say, to learn how to listen actively and to watch videos where they are not interrupted but rather confronted by an active listener who is not judgemental, by listening to videos where they are the only person talking without any interviewer and by simple reading there books.

Didn't Jordan told men to man up and let society abuse them?
If society does not value men. Why should men care about society?

When a woman gets into an abusive relation, society helps them to get out of it.
When a man is into an abusive relation society expects men to man up and accept the abuse.
What good is going the distance if you are the only one going the distance and the moment you stop going the distance society discard you?

Imagine being a man and when you see another man wearing/ doing what HE feels is good for HIM and YOU start to feel like there is a backlash AGAINST you, simply because there is freedom of option. There is no backlash because there was no masculinity in your first place😂😂😂

Why does everyone always take things to the extreme?! People are trying to make Jordan out to be some advocate for toxic masculinity when that's not even what he's saying!!! He's just saying that it's okay and encouraged for men to be Masculine, which is simply biological. That's all!!

  13. @powerofknowledge7771

    January 3, 2024 at 7:42 am

Nothing wrong with Masculinity in itself… Masculinity and toughness in men is wonderful thing!! But there's a toxic version of it that degrades women, projects arrogance, aggression at inappropriate times, and a controlling and authoritarian attitude, which is unacceptable. That being said, I think they need to have a term toxic femininity that refers to radical feminism… because any form of extreme bias or arrogance of any kind is in and of itself, toxic.

    "Egalitarian Ideal for Equality

was one of the goals of the egalitarian ideal to make men and women more the same

    ChatGPT

The egalitarian ideal aims to promote equality and fairness among all individuals, regardless of their gender, race, ethnicity, or any other characteristic. While the ultimate goal is not to make men and women "more the same," it does seek to ensure that both genders have equal opportunities, rights, and access to resources.

Historically, societies have often placed different expectations and limitations on men and women, leading to gender disparities in various aspects of life, such as education, employment, and leadership positions. The egalitarian ideal seeks to challenge these traditional gender roles and stereotypes and create a society where men and women can pursue their interests, aspirations, and capabilities without discrimination.

Rather than forcing men and women to become more similar, the focus is on dismantling the barriers and biases that have led to gender-based inequalities, enabling everyone to enjoy equal opportunities and treatment. It recognizes that men and women can have differences, but those differences should not be used to justify discrimination or limit their potential. The goal is to achieve a society where individuals are judged based on their skills, abilities, and character, rather than their gender."
    ~ ChatGPT
JP said the goal of Egalitarianism "is to make men and women more the same"
Then, based on this false premise, he proceeds to make his point.
Petterson's premises MUST be exposed. This is just Rush Limbaugh 3.0 ..it's more right-wing sophistry.

US hits ‘dozens’ of Iranian sites in strikes, as Iran targets US bases in region | BBC News

Published

on

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.

“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.

In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

Trump demands 20% toll on cargos passing through strait of Hormuz | BBC News

Published

on

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.

He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.

Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.

Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.

The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

US launches more strikes on Iran and resumes naval blockade of ports | BBC News

Published

on

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.

Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.

President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.
