Johnson’s Brexit Plan: https://youtu.be/yiKswD3rrkQ

Brexit is clearly one of the biggest issues in the UK right now, so it makes sense that the candidates for PM are putting it front and centre in their campaign. Jeremy Hunt supported the remain campaign back in 2016, so he has more to prove than Johnson here. He is trying to prove to the Brexiteer Conservatives that he can be trusted to deliver Brexit and he has a solid plan. In this video, we discuss Hunt’s 10 step plan and what it could mean for the UK if he’s elected.

The analysis unfortunately only presents the ideas of Mr. Hunt instead of assessing the facts critically. Starting with the negotiations with Ireland – that has not worked out for Mrs May either. There are NO one on one country by country negotiations with the EU. Even Mr. Trump had to come to the understanding, and that is a far larger economy. Where will Mr. Hunt take the money from for his program?, what is the position of the WTO to the subject?, etc. Mr. Hunt's plan has so many holes that it could be used as a sieve. It is very unrealistic to be successful and sounds more like an attempt to also attract moderate brexiteers than being a real plan.

There is no path to success. The EU single market, including Ireland, can't be compromised. There can't be a border between Ireland and NI, and there can't be a border between NI and the rest of the UK. There is only one way to accommodate all of those requirements, which is for the UK to stay in the single market. Early in the process, there was still the "Norway" or "Switzerland" solution on the table, that would have made that possible, but since that seems untenable, it seems you're screwed.

Amongst all the other issues with No Deal, one of its results will be a hard border, and who knows where that leads.

Jeremy Hunt has a plan and Boris Johnson has perceived faith. The Tory members think faith and scruffy hair is all that is needed. Jeremy H won't get a look in. Ironically BoJo will likely fail on all fronts and be defeated by parliament. He may well bring down the Tory party and the UK.

Another remainer in charge of Brexit?. Is this a joke?, remember Theresa May?, how can someone to think that he can be trusted?. The plan is plausible, but so was May (no deal is better than bad deal), but at the end, this will result in betraying UK democracy.

I think that the EU cannot set a precedent by giving the UK anything, otherwise all other countries in the world will request the same concessions.

I think that the EU will transfer all previously reserved UK subsidies (which will not be required) to Ireland. So the backstop will stay.

So this new deal will require more kowtowing to the divisive, hate-mongering DUP. The DUP wants equality in all things with the rest of the UK, except in terms of human rights. If Hunt wants them onboard, he can promise to make abortions and homosexuality illegal again, force all British schools to teach creationism and bring back the burning of Catholics.

    January 3, 2024 at 11:52 am

Excellent video. In fairness, the UK have never been at ease within the EU, they were always the “outsider” within. Yes, the real cost of this to the UK economy will be great if there is no trade deal, but what’s the alternative. Most brexiteers see this as a fight against EU imperialism….witness Ann widdycums insane (and somewhat hypocritical, considering England’s imperial-past) speech in Brussels last week. To fail to exit will only galvanize leavers to an extreme right wing block that could easily turn ultranationalist to disastrous effect. The choices therefore before the uk is disastrous in both scenarios, either leave and destroy her economy or stay and become an ultranationalist state. Neither are palatable options..

Boris is shite and his plan is plain stupid but hes a true brexiteer. Hunt couldn't even run the NHS. He's more like May 2.0 and can promise the world but likely to flip flop like May but has a better plan. I think we're f**ked whoever we get

Eat your cake and have it too policy. Both contenders want the benefits of EU membership, but without following EU regulations. Look for high tariffs, a hard border between the Republic of Ireland and the UK, Scotland leaving the UK and falling trade between the UK and the rest of the world.

I’m a fan of TLDR and I understand that that the channel needs to grow to secure its future BUT . . . there’s also something like too much self promotion.

I am really looking forward to seeing them both try to renegotiate. I mean, I didn't overly like Theresa May, but the EU said that they're not going to construct another full agreement. Therefore, despite both candidates having complained about May's lack of a renegotiation, they are too likely to fail in doing so, which I think will be very entertaining.

  47. @ctwofirst6635

    January 3, 2024 at 11:52 am

Delusion piled onto fantasy. The EU is not going to renegotiate the backstop. If the UK goes back on the Good Friday agreement, it has violated an international agreement that it has entered into. Why would any other country trust the UK government in any kind of negotiation after that? Both candidates are fantasying a unicorn-packed autumn.

I can't watch something that promotes LGBT sorry thumbs downed forcing homosexuality to people you dont see heterosexuals having a heterosexual pride do you ?

  49. @hedydd2

    January 3, 2024 at 11:52 am

Hunt has by far the best chance of negotiating successfully but since he is unlikely to succeed in his bid to become Prime Minister, we are doomed to have a clown buffoon leading negotiations that will lead to nothing apart from a devastating hard brexit.
