What economy? Trains are empty, people don't work, there is no drivers, no chefs, no factory stuff. UK is falling down.

4:23 Am I worried the UK economy will decline as a result of Brexit? No, not at all. It is a sure thing. I am only curious on how bad it is going to be. Bad, Very bad, extremely bad or catastrophic. The last one added because now of course in combination with a certain virus.

Not exactly the best video to make, considering that all countries are losing growth.

I guess no body gives a sh*t to brexit anymore i suggest you to focus on corona virus. That is the hot topic now.

I am at a loss when people ask themselves if these figures are influenced by Corona virus. WTF? These data come from years ago. The report probably was compiled in january when nobody could know how bad Corona was (outside Wuhan). How in the world are people so stupid to put these nonsense comments in the comment section?

You are dangerous – we are still trading with the EU and don’t know on what basis we will be trading with them moving forwards – consequently the cost of Brexit cannot be computed properly yet – don’t believe me? – do your next report on the state of German output then

As an EU immigrant, it is an od position to hold, but I am glad that the UK left, even at this cost, as the EU is a Bueroucratic Oligarchy. Fortunately I retain my privilege of remaining in the country, thank Her Majesty, and can finish my studies here.

To determine the impact we should get what happens with EU GDP and some selected countries (such as France, Germany) and compare. Because Coronavirus and it’s aftermath will for sure impact economic growth left and right.

  16. @seasonedstart1961

    January 3, 2024 at 7:07 pm

I think, given Covid-19, we'll never really know the full effects of Brexit. Certainly both sides of politics will try to downplay one of the two events (Brexit or Covid-19) to support their opinion on whether Brexit should or shouldn't have happened.

"EU funding that the UK got before leaving"
    No such thing.
As a net contributor, it was always UK money.
The full extent of the savings from leaving the EU will be more that a Remain leaning youtube channel is likely to want to admit!

  19. @benjaminnelson5455

    January 3, 2024 at 7:07 pm

It sounds like at least part of this report is saying: We hurt economic growth by 2% by dragging out the original referendum for three years, but since nothing can ever be blamed on the collectivists we'll blame it on Brexit finally happening instead.

Also, how much of this is actually Brexit related at all? Coronavirus has done a number on economic growth worldwide, and will likely continue to be felt for the rest of the year.

  26. @realityalwaysbulliesopinio1961

This is no surprise, there was always going to be a short term loss for long term gains. Considering we were forced to drag our heels for 3.5 years, the current transition period and the corona virus, 2% is not that bad. It's not the absolute armageddon that was predicted.
It will get worse before it gets better and it was always to be expected.

  27. @dallasmcquarrie1937

    January 3, 2024 at 7:07 pm

Get used to it! From a purely economic point of view, leaving the E.U. was about the dumbest thing Britain could have done.

  28. @Philiptanzer

    January 3, 2024 at 7:07 pm

It isn't necessarily easy to quantify, because we're always measuring against an imaginary world where we didn't vote to leave (so no real data on that). We also have the titanic effort to stop Brexit to thank for a lot of the added uncertainty. As time goes on we're going to see a lot of "my projection 5 years ago made 20 years into the future said we'd be richer by now" and I don't think that is a particularly impressive statement to make (and will be even more foolish since no one predicted Corona).

Give it some time, investment has been slow for many good reasons, and will likely continue to be slow due to Corona. But we're talking about change for the future, and that will include dodging Erdogen's blackmail every few years and costs across the EU caused by Corona.

  29. @justinthyme184

    January 3, 2024 at 7:07 pm

It's not so much Brexit. per se. that will damage Britain. It is the hostile, insulting, negative , abusive way it is being pursued. It's ourselves British, alone, to hell with everyone else.

Sadly, both the US and UK governments will blame the virus for any economic downturns, rather than the horrendous public policies they've been engaging in.

  39. @ICENI-Britannica

    January 3, 2024 at 7:07 pm

In case you failed to notice, the economy over the entirety of the EU is failing; not because of Brexit, that is just the tired old horse that you people keep dragging out at every opportunity because it’s an easy excuse, and then no-one in Europe has to shoulder any blame. Of course Covid doesn’t help, no brainer there then. Well, perhaps we should blame Brexit for the great plagues, the great wars and other catastrophes of history; then you can all lay in your beds and think yourselves chaste and blame free. Wake up people, take responsibility for your own lives and futures; then perhaps we can all move on.
