BTW…you'll never beat roast leg of lamb with mint sauce, roasted potatoes, baby spring peas and parsnips!

Every Brit I've ever met here in the U.S. says that British food, not ethnic cuisine, is under-spiced, bland, and under-creative.
Chicken Parmo is Italian. It's not British. This is chicken parmesean. The only change is the white sauce. Geez Baz, have a little chicken with your cheese!!!
The reason it's popular is it's cheese on cheese on cheese on a little chicken!
LMAO…Mike called them French Fries instead of chips!!!!!!!

It's like Germans ruining their Schnitzel by pouring Mushroom Sauce over it (Austrian here).

Add black pepper to the bechamel, don't put cheese on top, and you have Southern American chicken-fried-chicken.

Is chicken parm a secret? How is this different from what my mom has been making since I was a child in the north eastern united states? Why is it available in local italian restaurants? What am I missing?

  7. @CapraObscura

    January 2, 2024 at 5:34 pm

In these comments: People that ate this dish once at one specific restaurant who now think that THAT is the ONLY way it should ever be made and every other variation is "wrong."

So basically every YouTube food channel comments section.

What is British food? The same as American food…… Bastardized foreign cuisine.

I definitely heard Ebbers give it 5 *s there. 1+1+1+2!

A couple yrs ago I started out making what we called in our home “pork parm” where I would season and flatten pork loin chops, flour-egg-breadcrumbs, fry, top with parm broil until bubbling and served with pasta and a spicy garlic basil tomato sauce.
Might have to make it soon, since it’s turning cold

  14. @rurirotaru516

    January 2, 2024 at 5:34 pm

a few things I would have changed. the flour needed to be seasoned more. and the chicken should have had a rub on it that sat for 4 hours in a refrigerator. Then the tomato sauce. if your mixing pizza into this you really need to make a good pizza sauce to go on it. to give it flavor other wise the canned tomato sauce is pretty crap. Lastly don't put whole olives on it slice them up so they are spread out. oh and sticking to just the parma and mozz is best. doing this would still keep it to the traditional without reinventing but make a better product. what jamie and baz made felt like bottom of the barrel or minimum effort. And i know they can do so much better. I'd use Alton Browns late night fried chicken recipie for seasoning and how to bread the chicken in this case.

Iv only ever known tomato sauce on my parmos. People bitching saying its only bechamel need to get out more and open your horizons. Different peiple do things different ways. It seems any further up the country than Middlesbrough all use to ato sauce.

    Parmo is delicious.

  17. @bor3549

Here in Kansas the chicken parm is breaded fried boneless chicken, topped with tomatoe sauce and smothered in melted mozzerella and served on top of a bed of noodles (usually spaghetti)

  18. @daphnescombine

    January 2, 2024 at 5:34 pm

You guys rather disrespected the Parmo. No tomato sauce. Ever. A thick crumbed chicken breast, béchamel and cheese. That’s it. None of those ‘toppings’. Only garlic sauce, chips and a token salad that never gets eaten.

  19. @johnbaird627

    January 2, 2024 at 5:34 pm

Can we get Ebbers to make this 4 stars?

  20. @andy70d35

    January 2, 2024 at 5:34 pm

How to make deep-fried chicken, taste crap, pineapple does not belong on anything.

  21. @ScottishPhoenix

    January 2, 2024 at 5:34 pm

English food is shit, Scottish food is superior

  22. @TheCagedCorvid

    January 2, 2024 at 5:34 pm

I think savoury British food can definitely be crap, well, bland at least, it only seems to improve when we add other influences… however, I think our dessert game is fairly strong, maybe do some of those?

  23. @Rei.Eatsfoods

    January 2, 2024 at 5:34 pm

When Barry added the bay leaf and made that sound I laughed so hard I had to spit my water back into my cup just so you know 🤣

  24. @austenhead5303

    January 2, 2024 at 5:34 pm

Okay, no. You did something wrong.

I've never been to this town or had this dish, but there is not a chance in hell that breaded fried chicken topped with bechamel, tomato sauce and molten cheese can possibly fail to please to the tune of just 2 out of 4 stars.

What did you do? Did you serve it cold?

  25. @ohxgeez

    January 2, 2024 at 5:34 pm

This absolutely seems like something an American would make

  26. @No-jz3bp

    January 2, 2024 at 5:34 pm

if you want to try some really horrible american regional food, let me suggest the Horseshoe Sandwich, which is easily one of the most cursed things I've ever eaten (and listen it's perfect drunk food)

  27. @ItsFredFuchs

    January 2, 2024 at 5:34 pm

    Yes British food is poop

  28. @Perceptious37

    January 2, 2024 at 5:34 pm

im american and even i know a parmo is fried chicken, béchamel, and cheddar. never seen it w/ red sauce or pizza toppings.

Chicken parm is also a huge deal in Australia- a very popular pub meal!🤷‍♀️👍🏻🥰

Knock up may have been a pretty poor choice of words there lads, unless you're doing something else to your food besides eating it.

  33. @tribalismsucks7784

    January 2, 2024 at 5:34 pm

Hate to tell you this, but your Greek-American probably had, what we call, country-fried chicken and added cheese. When you were describing it, I thought, "oh, if they put some cracked pepper and bacon grease in that, they'll have country gravy."

  34. @theharshilparmar
