At 11:25 the graph is not portrayed very well because the 43% looks like 70% compared to the 92% and how the 92% looks a little bit more the 59%

One of the reasons euro sceptic parties didn't do as well as expected is because many center-left parties in countries like spain and denmark have changed their policy on immigration and other right wing views.

In my home country no one talked about the European grouping, so I found out after my vote. I would have voted differently if I had know which national parties were grouped in which European parties. Sucks there isn't a bigger focus on this!

The one golden nugget to add to your series would be a video on the formation of the EU, how it has been 'amended' over the years etc, Id find that very interesting.

While the PVV in the Netherlands has lost seats another new eurosceptic party the FVD has 3 seats. While they have similarities being euroskeptic and wanting less immigration the FVD seems less radical and has more stances besides EU and Islam bad, like wanting more democracy

Good video, but where did you get the idea that the GUE/NGL is far-left? It's a centre-left to moderate-left grouping. There's currently no far-left grouping in the EU.

I want to tell that this is unable to explain what happen in EU elections ,the best may explain specialist from EU,but in Poland ,Law and Justice 'party PIS is a type of far right /nationalist party relevant to to Farage they gained 45% votes ,Civic platform very centrist party with elements of social democrats /greens 38% called Tusk party , next will be other party which has gained 6% called Spring (completely new thing ) ,kind of gay lesbian right/human right similar to liberal democrats to the UK .So explanation is very hard ,but generally in Poland won populist .Also I think that next president of the EU should be Irish ,because of the difficult situation with Brexit

  24. @swanskogjsson151

    December 31, 2023 at 10:31 am

When the UK live the EU, there are some more seats up for grabs among the other countries. The one extra seat that Sweden gets, is voted to be represented by a member from the Green Party. I’m quite satisfied with that…

  26. @jameslincs

    December 31, 2023 at 10:31 am

there is a lot wrong with this video…. the EU is not democratic just because they have MEPs (people vote in North Korea and Russia… voting does not mean democracy) ….the European MEPs cant propose laws or stop laws, as the commission has 3 ways to create laws, and the MEPs can only stop one route, which the commission can easily get around. this video is just propaganda, which shows the makers of it are pro EU. and not impartial as they used to claim.

  27. @daddysaku8678

    December 31, 2023 at 10:31 am

10:35 to be fair, the seats went to the new FvD, who are just as Eurosceptic!

  28. @bcanuck

    December 31, 2023 at 10:31 am

I don't believe the parliament can legislate in the EU. The laws are written by the commission (big business) and rubber stamped by the parliament. It is corrupt and relatively undemocratic.

  29. @ericlewis7512

    December 31, 2023 at 10:31 am

When the UK exits the EU what happens to those 72 seats currently held by UK MEPs?
Will there be 72 empty seats, or will the total number of MEPs be permanently reduced by 72, or will those seats be re-apportioned across the remaining EU member countries?
Edit: Asked and Answered in the link to 'The EU Parliament Explained'.

    December 31, 2023 at 10:31 am

    10:30 this is wrong
Yes the party for freedom lost it seats, but they were gained by Forum of Democracy which is also "euro-skeptic"

  31. @GeldorfMcleod

    December 31, 2023 at 10:31 am

The right wing; having gutted the unions; manufacturing and undermined that section of society; for fear of it gaining political power. ; thatcher and regan; are frightened that a bunch of socialist countries will currently gain political and global power; and that they can no longer order it what to do; and set out to destroy it with hate division and fascism

  32. @kirisaki5584

    December 31, 2023 at 10:31 am

The multi-layered structure of the european elections is very discouraging. I vote for a party who then become a minority group within a bigger party which is a minority group within the parliament. I think we should all be voting for these european-wide parties directly, making their ideals and views much more accessible to the public. National parties who align with them would campaign in their behalf and send MEPs for this bigger party. Some of these supra-parties contain parties with very different stances on issues. Their (the supra-party's) own stances on individual issues are not clear and this really hurts any notion of possible accountability on their part. For your own parliament, if the party you elected goes against their views in voting, that is clear to see and there is accountability (people will feel betrayed and may vote elsewhere next time). This should definitely occur for the european parliament as well. As it stands, the european elections in my country were a sham, just a trial run for the legislative national elections to come soon. Most parties never mention in campaign the european party they are a part of, or what they will stand for. It is a campaign full of platitudes. I was very discouraged and did not vote. I had an interest in a party in my country, I liked their views. Then I looked into the european party they would be a part of and found myself disafreeing heavily with some of their core tenets (and with many parties that they are composed by). I honestly feel like this process is convoluted on purpose. These multiple layers make it hard to keep up with the outcome of your vote and reduce accountability. This way, these parties can do whatever they want within a certain ideological range.

    December 31, 2023 at 10:31 am

Great Video, it is weird to me how little I no of the EU, it's parties and how they work. Even right after an election.
Small detail: you don't pronounce the e in en marche. the way you pronounce it means market 😛
Also, it is true that the Dutch eurosceptic PVV lost all 4 of there seats, but they lost 3 of them to the equally eurosceptic and populist (new) Forum for Democratie
