Just checked out TLDR news after finding this is pretty much the only video on youtube about the higher education bill, why are you hiring solely partisan left people to supposedly critically explain topical news issues? I best hop over to your merch store and buy a bunch of EU flag adorned mugs, tshirts and badges (btw what else do you sell, and why). Your organisation sounds like an echo chamber at best, at worst actively malicious misinformation. What kind of people do you hire at Three27 Ltd – what are their salaries? Just a reminder there's some people out there that think for themselves, you lot clearly don't. Have fun with your tribalism.

    contradictory and undemocratic.

you can say far-right BS on university platforms under the bill but the university would investigate if the students chose to stage a walkout.

you can call out non-white and non-Christian practices and cultures under the bill but the university would shut down any attempts of calling out injustices happening to non-white and non-christian folks in the UK and other countries (most prominent is Palestine)

The law is supposed to allocate rights and duties. So far as I am concerned, there's nothing in the act to allocate rights to the minorities.

It's time for the right-wing folks to stop playing victim to your ideology. Grow a pair and don't be overly sensitive to things that you don't like.

so its null and void report system, yet allows civil suites? feels like Tories wanting to make money honestly. a possible guest you like wasn't invited? well he might have been de-platformed! lets launch an expensive civil suite against the university!

This should be implemented in more countries

  8. @joooja

    December 31, 2023 at 1:16 am

Free speech isn't a problem. But remember hate speech isn't allowed. Speaking ill of minorities is still off-limits. This shouldn't be a pass to say trans women can't use women's bathrooms for example, as clearly that will incite hatred.

Wow! The conservatives are fighting for freedom of thought on campus! The world is truly upside down! 🙈

    December 31, 2023 at 1:16 am

That sounds like a deadlock. Someone has the right to express a a shitty opinion, I have the right to tell them their opinion is shit, they'll go all ranting about their freedom of speech being violated… while I were only using mine. Sounds like another way for the populist right wing to cheat the system because that's the only way they have to push their shitty ideas.

You know what is really going to be shocking is that people whichever side wins people Anglosaxons are still going to be racist.
Oh you think they finna be like finally a command economy now I can let my love for other ethnicity flow. No they are going to say "I can't believe you fell for it! What more proof could we ever need you aren't as smart as us!" That's how they are you know they are like "yo wuzzup Rome Ostrogoths are here and clean water is for nerds!" Then they pull down the aquaducts. Then everyone gets waterborne illness COOL! way to go anglos

Can we just say that "canceling" somthing it what we used to call boycotting it… Which seems to be a pretty core part of freedoms and also to a well functioning capitalist society/economy…

  14. @jdg7327

    December 31, 2023 at 1:16 am

You silence your opponent because you can't beat their argument (goes for both left and right). What's the point of higher academic pursuit if nobody can be challenged or such inquiries will be struck down in the name of "You shall not offend anyone"?

  15. @gogogadget1855

    December 31, 2023 at 1:16 am

How far does this go, like what happens if some crazy person uses the new bill to basically do something like advocate for the death of others?

  16. @tysondundas1947

    December 31, 2023 at 1:16 am

More power grabbing by the government and purposely designed to stir up hatred, end student unions as well as driving the wedge harder between the public and the ECHR

"Nice things" (I'm exercising my free speech rights by following instructions.)

  21. @TheMeritCoba

    December 31, 2023 at 1:16 am

I would foresee a stream of complaints from self-entitled crackpots, even if it is just to make sure that the OFS can't handled the burden. Even more remarkable that the oversight is from a politician, someone who can't be considered neutral.
You don't think that climate change is a thing? Complain about it! Have your mates complain about it! And then some more. And then some more. Make sure that the OFS gets overwhelmed and you, as climate denying secretary, can intervene and make the university amend its way.
This is not a measure to ensure free speech, this is a tool to stifle it.

  22. @technicallythecenteroftheu1349

Great bill, great idea, badly needs done. I worked as an elected Student Union Representative full time for 2 years and Universities are in a sorry state. You can't get speakers, you can't put forward controversial opinions or you will suffer. Student Unions are in favour of this. Its a joke.

‘Hate speech’ is usually just opinions others don’t like.

This is a good step forward to protecting the extremely necessary freedom of speech.

It's about time someone killed off that thrice-accursed "woke" garbage.

  29. @gorenaldinho

    December 31, 2023 at 1:16 am

Surely it should be a debate….2 sides – make your own opinion … one opinion is dangerous, bit like the uk media at the moment…..

  30. @AvtarSDuhra

    December 31, 2023 at 1:16 am

When students only learn what they already know, that's not called learning but reinforcement. So it's important to have varying ideologies and perspectives, this helps students improve socially and emotionally; giving rise to a truly educated society.

  31. @joerolan1815

    December 31, 2023 at 1:16 am

It's important to allow students the freedom to express themselves. They need to learn info that's not native to their understanding so they may grow emotionally and socially.

  33. @MenkyuKanVT

    December 31, 2023 at 1:16 am

First time in my life I saw Johnson do something right. Fuck cancel culture. You can't attack and try to silence people because of their opinion lots of people lost their jobs because of it.

  34. @josejoao1621

    December 31, 2023 at 1:16 am

Imagine a world where defending freedom of speech in a University, the place of ideas, can be considered controversial… I think this is the only thing the Boris Johnson is doing right. About time the country who is the creator of the concept of freedom of speech actually give a dam about it and did something to protect it. We have a lot of people who would like to be dictators nowadays… Good thing we can protect ourselves from them.

  35. @Haseri8
