    We've got a time limit

Here's one I did two days ago

Good work Mike! While Ben’s was no doubt delicious and skillful, it wasn’t a new way of thinking about how to use tomatoes, yours showed great innovation. 👏👏👏

For me Mike is the winner. He made something totally original and outside the box. I also feel Ben got to cheat a little bit by prepping some things ahead of time instead of making something on the spot like Mike did. Mike has a really great demeanor and takes his losses with a smile and shrug and I also love how interested he is to learn everything. 😊

I don't see how Ben won this. He had twice fermented Kombucha, which takes weeks, and his ribs marinated for 2 days. Mike did everything on the spot within the time limit. He clearly won because Ben didn't compete.

Both are a winner to me. Love the use of same ingredient(s) challenges, chef in or not. Really helps me to learn to think about how to use my weekly groceries in different ways.

I thought Mike should have won because I LOVE to try new an different foods an dishes an seeing that on the menu at a restaurant would deffo have me ordering it x

Normally bens dishes feel a little aloof for my Midwest tastebuds but those ribs look Fire!

I swear I thought 2 of the main 4 were German as much as they talk about the blitz🤣

I really think if Mike tried to make a sweet but savoury cheesecake rather than a dessert it would've won. Swapping sugar for honey and adding a little vinegar, things like that. Tomatoing a cheesecake rather than cheesecaking a tomato.

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

Sorry, but I am more amazed by the fact that BASF is pronounced as B-A-S-F and not as a single word. I am a chemical engineer.

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

Gazpacho, pico de gallo, tomato pie, open faced caprese sandwiches, pastas, guacamole….the uses of low liquid content are endless! I would pay top dollar for that breed!

  12. @pony26

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

How is it fair to let the chef use ingredients prepared days ahead of time?

  13. @bluereenie2

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

GM IS the same, just faster. There is no plant in a market that you eat that hasn't been genetically modified. Doing it at the genetic level (splicing genes) and blending two varieties by hand are different methods to achieve the same outcome.

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

So I was doing laundry while I watched this, so I missed a few things. I was so cheering on Mike…until I saw Ben's, and I knew it was decided. Mike, I was so proud of you!

  15. @nkhan4

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

@9:50 is that vinegar extract or vanilla extract?

  16. @maryjoyspohrer256

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

I absolutely LOVE how supportive they are of each other and there seems to be no ego problems. That meal looked fantastic, plus I learned that you can fry off the tomato skins and candy basil leaves!

  17. @user-fw7wr9sq7e

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

Who says having large watermelon increases waste? I can eat a whole one by myself.

  18. @vlogerhood

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

The tomato breeder is absolutely correct to describe transgenics as just another tool. There is nothing inherently wrong or dangerous with transgenic breeding methods, and in fact it often replaces the far more random and wasteful mutagenic methods. The demonization of GM foods has been driven entirely by propaganda from competitive producers trying to convince consumers to pay more for objectively worse produce. Most of all "organic" produce, which is worse for the environment (requiring more energy, land, water, and pesticides), costs more to produce, and offers no benefits over traditional agriculture methods including transgenic crops. Throwing away an entire toolset that can be used to make better foods for our future is not wise.

  20. @kevinlorren7951

Kinda unfair to Mike. Ben was given extra time to complete his dish.

  21. @Sjivje

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

"Yes, you can compare it with that. Ja 👍" Gotta love us Dutch people and our ways of beautifying the English language LOL.

  22. @lookforward2life

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

Mike, that was such an impressive dish! seriously. It was beautiful and I wish I could even imagine what that might taste like.

  23. @kevinlorren7951

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

Kind of a fake mystery when Ben had extra time ahead to marinate his ribs. Seems to me the whole set up is skewed in favor of the chef

  24. @neilambasing7501

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

tomato cheesecake? Wow who would have thought about it? That is beyond normal. It is normal plus plus

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

Ben deserves a few knocks for cheating with ingredients several days ahead of time.

  30. @numen7778

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

15 minutes seems to pass differently for Ben. We hear “15 minutes”, he hears “here’s like 2 weeks”.

I was in the hospital when this launched, it was very nice to have Sorted when waiting to hear what was wrong with my foot, and honestly, Mike won.

  37. @nadiahardiman1462

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

What do you mean to avoid waste? Are you saying you can't/don't sit down and and eat half a watermelon in one sitting? 🤔

  38. @Maghanashi

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

Really wasn't a fan of this at all. Ben had far too much stuff pre-prepared and Mike made a solid dish in the allotted time. That's without mentioning that this #AD is ridiculously heavy-handed. Incredibly offputting.

  39. @mfowl777

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

Dude….that cheesecake was extremely clever. I was so on board with Mike's idea the very second he finished explaining his idea. I don't care he lost, it's a really clever recipe and a good talking point on deserts with a twist.

  40. @jetlagjack2925

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

Were the fried tomatoes skins actually successful?

  41. @user-by4jc5tb6c

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

    Love this!

  42. @CharlotteKandy

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

Bens i would want to make (if I had the skills and time) and devour during dinner.
Mikes I would love to try at a crazy high end restaurant for dessert.

  43. @benjaminli3808

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

Dehydrated tomato crisps with a bit of sugar (maybe larger grain sugar to have more of a texture) would've been a thing for that cheesecake. Kind of like a candied orange peel.

  44. @robseaman6694

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

You know what Bens dish is great, for a chef but can I just say Mike’s looked incredible and had that thinking out of the box genius. Really impressed. Mikes face when he turned to see Bens was priceless. Can I also just add please ban Jamie from ever looking into the camera saying low and slow ever again. Good god I almost threw up 😂

  45. @annez1681

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

won't finish watching this one. I know you need ad revenue, but as much praises sung for your ad partner, there's the same amount of critique.

  46. @OmaLowne

    December 30, 2023 at 3:07 pm

Watermelon and fresh tomatoes, add an oignon, garlic, rice vinegar, olive oil, season….Sift it, best summer gaspacho ever!
