Great Britain a fool to remove herself from the EU, but yet to adhere to NATO. And let Scotland and North Ireland be pissed to have their own withdrawal in eventuality!!

What about Northern Ireland? From the looks of the map, it seems like Sinn Fein did better than the DUP just like SNP won Scotland. So could NI leave the UK?

It seems to me that deep inside UK vote was putting alcohol on an open wound, people knowing that it will hurt, but refusing the neoliberal cancer path of Europe. Of course part of them know that ultraliberalism is at work here with people dying for lack of social Protection but anger and the need to cut the ombilical cordon in an anglosazon tribal culture was necessary. So, next step ? Huge inequality ? Fascism? This is long time history in England culture. England always had very alternative ways to fight oppression although the financial will make sure enough freedom will allow well educated english bourgeoisie to be afraid enough to maintain the system with voter suppression and charity, the absurd offspring of Protestantism. European, let's focus on social Protection as England is going forward a Shakespearean modern mythology without moral, just inept and so human gods

  8. @chrisahearn789

    December 29, 2023 at 11:27 am

Wouldn't labour picking another corbybista as leader only ensure that they countinue to be unviable? Embracing it now has clearly lead to their electoral failure. Embracing it again would border on the typical definition of insanity

  9. @chrisahearn789

    December 29, 2023 at 11:27 am

The idea that Scotland is so important to winning general elections kinda went the way of the dodo in 2015 no? The SNP practically took over scotland yet Cameron was still able to amass a 30 seat majority. If anything this notion still likely applies to labour itself, as Scotland was prime labour territory before the SNP came about

  10. @chrisahearn789

    December 29, 2023 at 11:27 am

Wouldn't you have already made a video about hung parliments, considering one existed just a few weeks ago?

  11. @thoughtful_criticiser

    December 29, 2023 at 11:27 am

Thank you for clearly demonstrating the inbuilt election bias to Labour of the current constituencies. Boris Johnson got a greater percentage if votes but 99 less seats than Blair. The boundary changes that were to be implemented by the coalition government but were blocked by the LibDems when they lost the referendum on voting, need to be implemented immediately. It also reduces the number of MPs to 600.

  15. @davidgaskin5417

    December 29, 2023 at 11:27 am

Hang on… The opening shots of this video shows a poster saying "vote Labour" and "stop brexit".. Bit off colour. Aren't you supposed to be unbiased?

  16. @AleaIactaEst2009

    December 29, 2023 at 11:27 am

A majority of 80 does not mean 79 can rebel as you say. If they voted against the government that would be 79 less votes for and 79 more votes against, a swing of 158 meaning they could easily lose a vote. 158 > 80. It means 39 could rebel, a swing of 78, and they would still win if the rest voted with the government no matter what. 78 < 80. In other words a majority of 80 means you are 40 beyond the middle. 650 seats in parliament / 2 = 325. 325 + 40 = 365 which is the number of seats the Conservatives have.

  17. @chigglywiggly

  22. @matthewbaynham6286

    December 29, 2023 at 11:27 am

The numbers are wrong in this video.

If 45 Tory's vote against Boris's deal then it will fail.

SF don't sit and add the speaker and his deputy speakers to the maths. Then Tory's have 45 more seats than all the other parties totalled.

All other parties are against this deal, so 45 rebels and it'll fail. Remember May's 3 votes were lost by 230 then 149 and 58.

So if Boris's MP's lack loyalty just as much as under May then Boris will fail.

    December 29, 2023 at 11:27 am

I’ve been following this channel for a while now, and enjoying all the mostly unbiased content, but that nonsense about “the route to number 10 lies through Scotland” really took the piss. Scotland’s votes have had almost no effect on any general election in living memory and we’ve rarely had any conservative MPs (up until recently) and always had a Tory government thrust upon us.
Really disappointed with the level of research and quality control here guys.

  25. @mrparts

  26. @silenceseppo7079

  27. @EpicSlug

    December 29, 2023 at 11:27 am

CORRECTION: 2:27 No this is wrong a Majority of 80 does not mean you can suffer 79 defections. It means you can suffer 39 defections or 79 abstentions. Big difference.

The Tories can only afford 39 MPs to rebel, not 79 or 80. Otherwise great video btw.

  32. @morsmat

    December 29, 2023 at 11:27 am

math is the problem here. the conservative don't need 80 MP's to rebel in order to loose majority, it's 40 MP's.

  33. @nathanielescudero5379

    December 29, 2023 at 11:27 am

Hey guys thanks for the great work. Can you perhaps discuss your views on Hung parliaments, Proportional representation and why while it's fine for the Netherlands to have almost exclusively coalition governments for the last 80 years and a functional PR system? Why is the UK so adverse to cooperative governance?

  34. @insta_jamgirl569

    December 29, 2023 at 11:27 am

Maybe labour needs to split into two separate parties. Those with old values and those with Corbyn values.

  35. @planetsaturn1300

    December 29, 2023 at 11:27 am

@ 10:00 ‘Dead in the ditch’ comment – he extended only because parliament forced him to. He was
quite willing to leave without a deal. Remember this is the person who prorogued parliament.
Some think his commitment to leave without a deal is just a tactic to appear
tough to the EU – but don’t be too sure. I think he really is prepared to leave
without a deal. Now that he’s got a majority will he be more liberal to
negotiations? Let’s see what people he surrounds himself in his new cabinet to make
a judgement. I think it will be more or the same as the last 6 months…

What does it mean to be “out” if you are in a “transition period” with a defined end? If you were “out” and were a fully independent and sovereign nation once again, you could negotiate as long as another party was willing, like any other sovereign nation.
