This has to be one of the most primitive reviews of the trade deal yet published.

    1. Australian standards are higher than Britain’s, and are much more rigorously enforced. Unlike Britain which has appalling unhygienic standards for animals, uses excessive antibiotics, and gave the world Mad Cow Disease by government regulation, Australia is just simply cleaner and greener, without subsidies and with more certified organic farmland than the rest of the world combined.

2.Australian food exports can’t affect British production, they can only offset Britain’s imports from the EU, particularly Ireland which means the UK economy will see less capital outflows and it already has the benefit of not subsidising lazy European farmers.

    3. The price of meat in Australian supermarkets is on par with British. Simple.

We shouldn't be buying anything from the other side of the world when we can get it from our own continent.

Australians get their pants pulled down by our corporates, they somehow convinced everyone that pegging domestic consumpition prices of the things we make to the international prices was a good idea. Meaning from meat to natural gas local consumption is extremely profitable because logistics cost in massively reduced but we pay as much or more than international customers.

I hope there's a free trade deal with Australia 🇦🇺. Tariffs on agriculture related imports from Australia doesn't affect the market of British farmers.

What a brilliant plan Brexit: let’s test out of Europe, they give us money but we don’t want competition with European prices. Let’s get Australian cheaper food instead… how smart brexiters are, and how much British will regret their arrogance to Europe. Bye bye.

The TPP is terrible and allows companies to sue governments of countries that have laws which in their opinion could affect sales (i.e. tobacco companies suing over plain packaging laws). This happens in a closed court where lawyers take it in turns to act as the defence, prosecution and judge. It is horrible for citizens of the countries and only works to make the hyperwealthy even richer.

First they consider themselves being ripped off by the European trade block and then they aim at being ripped off by the Asian trade block.

Interesting definition of “lower food standards” when it’s been proven that that hormone growth doesn’t adversely effect either the animals health nor the person eating it and the fact that a significant amount of Australian Farmers don’t use hormone treatment. Also the fact that the original decision to forbid Hormone growth products in the the UK was almost entirely politically motivated and has nothing to do with standardisation of food quality.

    December 24, 2023 at 6:47 pm

wait, Australia is part of the commonwealth, was a UK colony and still recognizes the Queen as the figure head. if UK can't deal with the so-called 'within the family' countries, good luck to deal with other countries.

I wonder if this deal sets up freedom of movement between the new groups proposed in the development of a new trading block (USA, Canada, Australia and Japan)…

We were in a huge free trading block and England and Wales voted to leave it! Are you stupid!
