I would've washed the tea strainer first before steaming tea in it^^

watching the last 3 minutes of this video the alexa in my room was going crazy

    Just ordered a Butter Hub.
I have a cramped, tiny kitchen, I like toasted breads, have butter smears on the stove and the countertop, so you sold me on this.

I'm awaiting delivery of something similar to the Magicfly lid; the flanges are silicone instead of metal. Between the weight of the tempered glass portion and the silicone flange, I expect it to sit more fully on the pot or pan below. So no interest here on the metal-flange version.

That Appkettle is wasted money as far as I'm concerned.
This is one of those 'we can do it, but SHOULD we do it' things.
When I come home from work, errands, or other outings, I would fill and start a kettle and go about clothing changes, putting things away, turning on entertainment, THEN turn to making a cuppa. By then, the water's hot. And frankly, I'm enough of a philistine to not care how hot the water is for my tea, so long as it steeps.
Having the water at a specific temperature waiting for me at home is just a waste of money. Plus tech evolves rapidly; how long before upgrades or replacement is needed. Then you have to consider the end of use issue; ecological impact in manufacture and disposal both. An old fashioned kettle, with proper care, is useful for generations; how long would this device be useful?
    This one's a hard 'No!'

For the Gourmia Brewing System, see Appkettle.
    Hard 'No!'

My Alexa kept lighting up during this, all confused-like

Need to bleep out the Alexa commands for the audience.

  6. @kasgrieve9741

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

A smart kettle imo will only be worth it especially at that insane price, once they come up with a way to fill the kettle, like a much bigger water reservoir behind the kettle that will fill it up when it’s low

  7. @kasgrieve9741

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

Can Jamie stop activating my alexa please😂

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

I lived in the UK for a few years. I hated the kettle I used the microwave more than the kettle

  10. @tiago9977

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

7:30 I'd love to see them test out cookware sets w/ detachable handles, i.e.:
    – the Tefal Ingenio Daily Chef 22-piece pan set
    – the Tower 7 Piece cookware set
    – the Berlinger Haus 5Pc frying pan set with grill induction & detachable handle
    – the Carote nonstick cookware set with detachable handle

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

The butter dish is the perfect innovation concept. If your product does something useful that the competitors' doesn't at the same price, of course people will like it. The magnitude of the problem solved is immaterial.

  12. @PaleGirl

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

No, Jamie! English butter won't fit in it! Hold back!!

  13. @omiai

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

Butter dish seems silly to me. We have a couple of different butter dishes, both were cheaper than that, and we never have the problems they mention (butter on the outside of the lid etc). They are both larger than the one there, both more than big enough for a standard pat of butter from the supermarket.
It doesnt solve the knife issue but equally…i dont forget to get a knife when i know I'm going to be spreading something. Also we tend to just have some butter knives hanging out on the worktop.

  14. @glossaria2

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

I AM impressed by the kettle app, but not at that price.

(I'd take a butter dish skate park, tho.)

  15. @glossaria2

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

OMG… my mother BOUGHT that lid for our kitchen, and I hate it. The huge knob on the top makes it a pain to store. As Jamie saw, it's no good at all on small pots, but the weird stepped rim means it's not great on really large pots, either, because it dips into the pan… and then you discover what a pain in the butt it is to clean after you've gotten congealed egg and cheese all the way around the metal/glass seam. (Also… why bother with glass, when it's going to steam up as soon as you use it?)

  16. @glossaria2

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

That tea gadget is a bit ridiculous. If you're a regular loose tea drinker, you already know to hydrate the leaves (it's not that hard). I'd much prefer a good electric kettle with multiple brewing temp presets and perhaps a timer than have that giant boxy thing taking up counter space.

  17. @RichardCalder67

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

Have we learned NOT to repeatedly say alexa yet? Jesus.

  18. @richardcastro-parker3704

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

Only trhing with the butter dish is can it hold a British butter pat. As it is US designed it might only fit butter sticks.

  19. @Overfloable

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

Even after all this time I can't help but think: "but… my pans already have lids?!"

  20. @extracurricularkitty3605

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

With all these app based products, they become useless once the app goes away, or if the servers are shut down, so basically whenever the manufacturer feels like stopping support or maintenance.

And this happens more than youd assume. A certain car manufacturer decided after only 5 years on the market to stop manufacturing the battery pack for their budget electric car, so everyone who bought one ended up with a car that was useless after the battery pack died. FYI lithium batteries usually dont last more than 5 years, and by 3 years are down to 60% of the original capacity.

"Smart" products usually are dumb if they rely on internet access that isnt local (i e. Servers outside of your local area network)

  21. @LiqdPT

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

I have a universal lid like that and I love it. The big difference is that the handles of my pots and pans dont rise steeply above the rim like yours seem to.

  22. @Olga-du8hw

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

Here in Australia we can’t keep butter on the bench in summer. It will be a puddle, so I want the design of the butter dish with the technology of the kettle to keep my butter at a spreadable temperature!!!
The minute that becomes a available I will buy it even if I have to queue all night

  23. @autolargue

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

    Poor Ben. Hugs

  24. @shaunybwfc123

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

Just buy pg tips or another tea brand and some semi skimmed milk and a bit of sugar that's all you need for a good cuppa tea

  25. @Jackb0b1

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

  26. @brograb898

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

I love the staff member or camera person who when “ooh!” when Jamie said £60 for the tea machine. Granted it’s a glorified drip machine, but it looks like a 200% mark-up drip machine.

  27. @adamdresch

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

I'll never understand the need or desire for a smart device like a kettle, toaster, washing machine or dishwasher.
You have to physically fill, or load the device, it'd take longer to them tell it what to do, via voice or an app, then it would be to just press a button or two!

  28. @DRN

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

I rather have the can heating pot than the tea brewer

  29. @beckycaughel7557

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

I’ve on this butter dish for a while I love it

  30. @Landra372

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

I want that kettle. Different temperatur for different teas. Sometimes I need 37 degrees Celsius for my bread dough. Hot water for my Grog at Wintertime, Not too hot to nur my tongue. Perfect kettle for me. I Hope I can geht one in Germany

  31. @carrie-annemcisaac5116

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

If they make the outer part of the lid in silicone instead of metal it would probably mold around handles so it would properly seal any size pan.

  32. @timokampwerth1996

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

I can honestly say, I've never had a Butter ring and have only now been made aware that they exist.

  33. @pctotty

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

The feet avoid a butter ring on your table cloth. lifts lid and turns it over

  34. @IrmaU94

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

I was hoping the lid would work. I got glass ones and dropped the one i needed most often

  35. @IrmaU94

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

I agree on the tea thing. I do not want my different teas brewed at the same temperature. Boiling hot green tea is horrible

  36. @annieclaire2348

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

My Alexa speaker heard Jay ask the Alexa in the video to turn the kettle and told me she couldn't find "kettle". 😄😄😄

I have one of these multi lids and I do use it on my frying pans. It certainly doesn't fit smaller saucepans well. My biggest complaint is that the clear centre is lower than the outer metal so it dips into the frying pan instead of curving up so it often rests on the food in the frying pan. It is better than nothing, but not a particularly good design really. Not sure if that particular one is as bad as mine though.

  37. @trixiepickle8779

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

Butter dish which doesn't hold a full pat of butter = hmmm.

  38. @hannavuorio83

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

No go for me, even butterthing.
In the summer here on the countryside we have flys etc, so it would be really unhygien to leave butterknife out on the table…

  39. @tonipittman5474

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

I wish you guys would go back years later to some of these an review them again

  40. @weorldedit

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

That shows you again, that British people know nothing about tea. When I was in Oxford there was only one tea shop where you could buy loose leaf tea and all the items were imported from Germany. My home town is much smaller and has 5 tea shops. First day I was working I asked in the company caffeteria what kinds of tea they have. They looked at me very confused, "What do you mean kinds of tea, we only have tea, do you want tea or not?" I was the only one drinking "the tea" there after lunch. In Britain, everythink you consume between meals is called tea, i think thats where the confusion comes, they dont actually drink tea. Just like any desert is called pudding.

  41. @mollydavis7622

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

My Alexa went off everytime Jamie said it

  42. @snowrubu

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

Just get a hot water dispenser instead of a 'smart kettle' if you dont want to wait for the water to boil

  43. @hellen1379

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

It;s time you contract someone with a minumum budget…

  44. @AnonYmousxxx69420xxx

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

This video had Alexa starting my RoboVac multiple times. Pretty funny.

  45. @ivybrown3859

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

Alexa kettle good but way to expensive. I am a pensioner and I end a new one

  46. @kawaiineko133

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

if you cant set the temp for the tea it is useless to me. scorched green tea is bitter trash

  47. @nickisalizzoni6026

    December 22, 2023 at 3:29 am

The tea kettle at the end would be great for people with some disabilities
