The appointment of Corbyn as Labour leader was probably one of the party's biggest ever mistakes.

Corbyn was a far too divisive figure for to ever get anywhere near enough votes behind him in order to make any real kind bid to oust the Tories.

And in fact, Corbyn's extreme views just played into the hands of the Conservatives and gave Boris Johnson a far more convincing victory at the ballot box in December 2019 than may have otherwise been the case.

It’s the labours leaders cronies, who are blocking immigration policies that would’ve started taking effect in deterring small boats from crossing over to Britain, such as the deportation policy. Blocking the planes from leaving and so on.

  18. @MrAndrew941

    December 19, 2023 at 9:09 pm

The left think in regards of immigration in the wrong light, a lot of countries these people come would not thank Britain for stealing their best talent the ethical implications of affluent nations benefiting from the emigration of highly educated individuals from economically disadvantaged countries. This phenomenon, often referred to as brain drain, can hinder the economic growth of these nations by depleting their skilled workforce. It might be worthwhile to analyze the broader migration system in Western countries and explore ways to support the development of struggling nations, rather than inadvertently contributing to their decline by encouraging mass emigration. This perspective raises questions about the ethical stance of allowing people to depart, as it may perpetuate a cycle where the prospects for those left behind remain stagnant due to the loss of valuable talent.

  19. @MrAndrew941

    December 19, 2023 at 9:09 pm

I bloody hope not, Labour would need to win in Scotland to have any hope of winning Westminster and history has proven that.

Most people in Britain are waking up to the fact that Starmer will be napalm to the three main issues facing Britain. 1) Electricity prices through the roof due to expensive unreliable intermittent perpetually taxpayer subsidised goose green energy. 2) The importation of illegal welfare seeking dullards. 3) Taxation rates.

  23. @mbshaw1

    December 19, 2023 at 9:09 pm

If Labour don't win the next election then I think it's time to seriously consider their relevance other than being renamed as The Opposition Party. The issue with Labour is that the party has lost it's identity, Maggie Thatcher saw off the last of the real Labour party and the only reason "Labour" got re elected was because they pretended to be Labour under Tony Blair but then he taught Labour voters all about free market economies and investment banking and they never looked back. Keir Starmer is following on from Tony Blair because Labour's traditional values just don't work any more. So if Starmer wins we will have red Conservative and if Sunak wins we will have blue conservative.

  24. @user-ln9fk5ht9q

    December 19, 2023 at 9:09 pm

Labour is not Labour anymore. Starmer is more of a Conservative than Thatcher.

Regardless of what party wins, it's a win for all conservatives in the U.K.

Labour need to say theyll stop immigration. They lost brexit and the last couple of elections because of immigration. They have left the north of england politically homeless

  27. @ilikelampshades6

    December 19, 2023 at 9:09 pm

Labour won't win, the Tories will lose after 13 horrific abuse from them. The vast majority of the left feel more closely aligned to the Greens or Independent than they do to Labour

  28. @SouperEmmKay

So we’ve had years of Tory criminality crippling the country after 8 years of labours criminality, illegal wars and bankrupting the country, not to mention Blair’s open boarder policies. I think it’s safe to say FPTP simply doesn’t work. So we definitely need a referendum to get rid of this two party system.

The MP for any constituency should be born and bred there and 100% accountable to the people. Their finances should be public knowledge as should their spouses, children and parents.
Any politician leaving office with more than they started is corrupt and should be investigated and held accountable

  32. @matthew5386

  33. @intelligenthuman3262

    December 19, 2023 at 9:09 pm

Labour wont offer a chance to rejoin the EU nor even entertain the idea, they wont end the war on drugs and decriminalize drugs in small amounts for personal use and even legalize drugs like marijuana for recreational use (with a tax and use to money to build addiction treatment and rehabilitation centers) and legalize psychedelics for medicinal purposes such as the treatment of PTSD, schizophrenia and even depression (which there has been a ton of evidence to suggest psychedelic experiences aid massively with those mental illnesses) and allow for private clinics where people can pay to use them safely under medical supervision and finally to treat drug abuse and addiction as medical issues and not criminal issues, people shouldn’t be locked in caged with the likes of killers for having a problem (most likely a mental health issue) that leads them to abusing drugs and becoming addicted, these people should be put into care and rehabs not prisons and also, dealers and distributors shouldn’t be facing more prison time than rapists. Labour while having many anti-monarchists within the party who are in favor of changing the position of head of state to an elected official which would have a better role within our government and politics and act as a person who hold constitutional powers to prevent a tyrannical government etc. Labour members are too scared to entertain this idea despite republicanism constantly gaining favor especially with the younger generation (its just a case of politicians and media people discussing and promoting the idea more) and Starmer is an ardent royalist and monarchist, economically Labour are also problematic because they want to cost the country a fortune by nationalizing much of our energy sector and increasing the minimum wage when we are in a period of sky-high inflation and were just on the verge of economic collapse not too long ago, this kind of spending would absolutely ruin the economy and would be devastating long term, it would lead to endless cycles of price hikes, inflation, unemployment and even more bureaucracy. Labour are no better than the current government and are in many ways worse, their politicians are just like the tories in which they dont want to offer anything that many of the people want because they’re bound by money and political influence to tow the party line and keep other politicians and lobbyists happy they are just more of the same and in many ways far worse, not to mention they’re absolutely horrible social stances such as essentially being the party of the woke ideologues and a party that thinks we should allow children to be mutilated and thinks that believing you are another gender that the sex you were born as is anything other than a mental health disorder, then theres the issue of the NHS which shouldn’t exist as people take it for granted, treat it like a religion and it comes as free at-point health at the cost of relying on America’s system, science and pharmaceutical companies to innovate instead of being able to do it ourselves and be self sufficient, Labour also believe that it’s problems would disappear by throwing more money at it when it’s been economically proven to not be as simple as increased funding especially when it already gets 400 Billion pounds a year (to put that into perspective, America’s military gets 800 Billion dollars a year and pounds are worth more than dollars so our increasingly flawed healthcare costs almost the same as the world’s most powerful military and still provides bad outcomes to both patients and staff). Labour will cripple us and wont be better than the tories, the only reason they are popular at the minute is because the tories are losing popularity, having internal leadership issues and are being the government thats there during 3 times of crisis and that party that caused brexit, driving down their own approvals and since we have an awful 2-party system, Labour are the only opposition that could realistically get enough seats to have a government in our awful parliamentary system so naturally become favored even though they’re shit too.

  34. @MrDougKerr

    December 19, 2023 at 9:09 pm

When is the election? It’s nuts that the Conservatives keep changing leaders and do not have to go to a general election to get a mandate.

  35. @andya6461

    December 19, 2023 at 9:09 pm

To be honest the current labour don’t really look that great. It’s just people are sick of the tories.

  37. @shaunashton5434

Not being the worst option is not a positive reflection on a FPTP system fit for no citizen.

  38. @kenloh3038

Under a K Starmer Labour govt, UK will be no better than under the Tories. It will sink in the west with the sunset under the horizon!

All well and good but its now utterly pointless. Starmer will be the next Tory PM. He'll just stand under a slightly redder flag.
