How harmful can ultra-processed foods be for us? – BBC News

Published

on

The impact of ultra-processed foods like crisps, bread and cereals is a “ticking timebomb” to our health, a leading scientist has said.

The BBC’s Panorama programme has been investigating the impact of ultra-processed foods with the help of identical twins on very different diets.

The effect on their health was clear after just two weeks.

When this food is a future time bomb, it would be interesting why no one of the food industry is arrested and prosecuted. Poisoning tens of millions of people should be enough evidence to legally prosecute every department that is connected to this criminal conduct.
They give first of all enough evidence of a crime committed in all of these YouTube food docus.
We only need : Names, laws that have been published to legalize this, names of individuals who managed this through execution of same laws that had been published. All these names are available. All departments of these Corporations are illegal as they're law making Corporations. Hence, they're not rooted in the Constitution. These Regulatory Agency are banking extension (making laws). Thus they're illegal entities in the realm of Constitional Law.
The repercussions are immense, as no one of these criminals can escape legal procedures due to correct law applications via the Constitution.
There is a reason why they make laws on an assembly line for creating an illegal context.

Ultra-Processed foods (UPF) was the invention of the food industry in late 70's, it increased their profitability by giving longer shelf life to foods, and using cheaply sourced carbohydrates. On the flip side it freed the Housewife (yes it was mainly housewife's in 70's/80's) from the kitchen, as preparing meals from natural single sourced food ingredients was time consuming. It has been scientifically linked as a primary cause of obesity, Diabetes, cancer, and their is some research also for a potential cause of IBS (Irritable Bowl Syndrome). A healthy bowel wall has a natural lining of fibre and mucus, UPF Emulsifiers have been linked to stripping away this mucus layer, and UPF has fibre removed from it. This is a double blow to the health of your bowel! Until the public pushes back against the supermarkets and food industry, they will keep feeding us this crap, an healthy options will always be expensive. I've been trying to avoid UPF's for last couple of years, its not easy as it is literally everywhere (anything with a plastic wrap on it)! However I have seen my natural gut micro-flora (bacteria) diversity improve significantly, since I have. A healthy and diverse gut bacteria species has been linked to a longer & healthier life.

Something to take in account is this. For example they are using two relatively young healthy women in this test. But young healthy people can tolerate what is considered harmful or stressful on the body way more and for longer periods, then older people can. Another thing I think some overlook in their calculations might go like this. Take someone who is younger. Let them eat something unhealthy or considered bad for them. And they will most likely be able to do it for the next 30 years if they wanted to with minimal issues. Where as if someone older did the same, it might push them over the cliff so to speak in 10 years. The same applies to some toxin in something. Such a toxin is less dangerous for the younger people, given they heal faster and flush out toxins quicker then say an older person. Point is it all applies differently to people depending on their age group. Something may be safe for some younger generation that simply is harmful for some older generation. These variables must always be taken into account over such test. Also such would mean if something is noticed to cause some harm in some younger generation, then that means its causing much more harm in some older generation.

Maybe also include discussing the common additives to be less concerned about..

Half the world is hungry, many are at the point of starvation. We the public have created the food industry that makes this ultra-processed food. The public demanded cheap but plentiful food, but it had to be filling. So the food industry sourced the cheapest ingredients and created fillers to bulk out our food. Then the shops and the people said they wanted the food to last on the shelf with the need for refrigeration, the industry filled foods with chemical preservatives. Now we complain our food is full of chemicals? We have the food we asked for, don't blame the manufactures for supplying it. We need to stop treating people as wayward children, tell them the risks of eating junk food and encourage a health diet and lifestyle. That's it, let them eat rat burgers if they wish. Stop nannying people, there are enough restrictions and petty rules as things are. The only thing you have real control of in life is your body, and there are people out there who want to take that right away too.

The education system aims to improve the lives of young people. It also aims to help the economy. So why have I recently completed 15 years of formal education in the UK and not received any education on diet, foods etc. It is counterintuitive to not educate people about diet and processed foods, this is bad for people via disease (and therefore a huge cost to the economy).

I’m an American. I cut out all processed food meat and dairy a year ago. I’ve lost 90 pounds and feel better than I’ve ever felt. It’s really hard to find restaurants that don’t have processed oils or meat and dairy. Easier in the larger cities. But it is possible.

Don't have the time to research how much of this is BS but their explanation of emulsifiers alone – oh boy… 🤦
And the fact that they say that something being "plant-based" should make you suspicious makes me wonder about ties to the meat industry.

While I agree that ultra-processed foods are a health concern, this is a very small sample size. You need more than two people to provide convincing evidence.

US hits ‘dozens’ of Iranian sites in strikes, as Iran targets US bases in region | BBC News

Published

on

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.

“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.

In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

Trump demands 20% toll on cargos passing through strait of Hormuz | BBC News

Published

on

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.

He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.

Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.

Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.

The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

US launches more strikes on Iran and resumes naval blockade of ports | BBC News

Published

on

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.

Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.

President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.
