US Republicans block Ukraine and Israel aid bill – BBC News
US Senate Republicans have blocked a move to pass an aid bill for Ukraine after failing to secure border compromises they sought in exchange.
The $110bn (£87.3bn) package included $61bn for Ukraine, as well as funds for Israel and aid for Gaza.
The White House has warned that US funds for Ukraine could soon run out, and a Ukrainian official said that that failure to secure more US aid would mean a “very high possibility” that the war will be lost to Russia.

Americans are reacting to President Donald Trump’s escalating feud with Pope Leo XIV and the backlash surrounding an AI-generated image depicting the president as a Jesus-like figure, which has since been deleted.
On Monday, Trump posted a lengthy Truth Social message attacking the pontiff, who has been a vocal critic of the US and Israeli military operations in Iran.
He criticised the Pope, calling him “weak on crime” and “terrible for foreign policy”.
The Pope said on Monday that he has “no fear” of the Trump administration or “speaking out loudly of the message of the Gospel, which is what I believe I am here to do”.

US President Donald Trump said US-Iran talks could restart in Pakistan “in the next two days”, though Iran is yet to comment.
He also said the war is “very close to over”, in a preview of an interview released by Fox News.
Meanwhile, Israel’s attacks on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon continue, after it held talks with the Lebanese government in the US on Tuesday.
