Government and senior public servants should have pay cuts related to borrowing and inflation rises. For every % rise in either those that cause it should have a % reduction in their salary so that they `feel' the pain more than the public for their misguided decisions.

Our government let us down so badly. They've simply failed to plan for the future during a time of historically protracted low interest rates when it is basic economics that the cost of borrowing can only go up. It's as if they've milked the country dry to line their own pockets while the going is good and now they're panicking. If ever there was a time for a strong government, it is now. We need to get away from two-party political fighting. We need a government that makes big changes and makes a big difference without worrying about whether they get voted in next time.

    December 17, 2023 at 10:53 pm

We're going to end up with a Labour government and 4 or 5 years of hearing "it was their fault" And I believe during that period there's a very good chance the UK will effectively default on it's debts and we'll be under the thumb of the IMF.

  16. @damianbutterworth2434

There's no time to explain the situation that the economy was in after the crash of 2008, but it was in better condition than it is now. Brown and Darling have been heralded as promoting economic measures that have excellerated economic recovery of most of the major economies. Had the UK elected a Labour government in 2010 the policy would have been growth not austerity.

Why would anyone lend their vote to any of these parties, ALL of which are content to see the people being progressively poisoned by big Pharma and expecting us to pay for the privilege?

  19. @jimconway5921

    December 17, 2023 at 10:53 pm

Labour know a lot about the "Quack"- everything is broken, wages & benefits too low, more money for NHS, bring back freedom of movement, increase migration, region EU, spend-spend-spend that's the way to do it – delusional & dysfunctional = anarchy and as regards fiscal policies they couldn't even run a Tuck Shop in a school, look at the bankrupt Labour run councils Nottingham, Birmingham, Liverpool and of course Croydon.

Time for big companies to pay up or ship out, same with the rich tax dodgers. Cutting benefits for those with nothing, Such a rich mans answer. Trickle down that comes out the backside of a bull. Give the money to those with nothing they will spend it decorate new carpet, heating on a freezing day or three. Decent food not cheap crap.

Not going to get any growth without cheap energy, net zero nonsense will bankrupt UK

  27. @Chris-gs8kc

    December 17, 2023 at 10:53 pm

The western nations hadn't dug themselves out of the crooked banks fiasco of 2008 when along comes Covid-19 when they all ran around like chickens that had had their heads removed and their response was to trash the wests economy, so all the west nations, having printed money like it was going out of fashion, have now become so indebted that our children's children's children will not be able to pay off the debt.
And to make sure that future generations will live impoverished lives colder hungrier and diminished lives they have decided to plough headlong into achieving net zero, something that will not be achieved but will cause the deaths of billions of people.
The eco activist want people to turn back the clock two hundred years, so no personal transport unless it's a horse, not a bike because producing a bike requires steel or some other metal, no flying to somewhere warm for a holiday, and the peasants shouldn't be eating meat. I could go on but I'm sure that you all get the picture. And our leaders bow to all these minority groups with an axe to grind, whilst the majority of us just want to get on with our lives and are ignored and despised by the very politicians that are voted into power.
But it seems that there is still hope as populist parties (for populist read what the majority of people want) are winning elections, so it will be Britain's turn soon to vote out Liberals (now there's a misnomer), Labour and Conservatives (another misnomer) and free ourselves of these politicians that care nothing for Britain or its people.

  38. @amfearliathmor9747

Its very difficult to become productive, motivated and enthusiastic, when fighting off the doom and the gloom, the never ending cold, the stress of just surviving and the depression of a country on the brink of economic collapse and just the realisation that these elites simply want folks eliminated. The nightmares of the cannibalism are taking their toll as well with the mental health decline of millions of people in the UK.

  39. @nick8772

    December 17, 2023 at 10:53 pm

The idea that Starmer is bright enough to outwit the Militant Tendency anarchists in his party is ridiculous. Six months in to next year's Labour government, Starmer will be dumped & the real Labour party will seriously punish us.

Under the Labour Party Government everyone will become Millionaires, then Billionaires and then Trillionaires and my mum might even still get the magic rocket day out trip to the moon, she was promised 20 years ago. BBC's Monkey Dust – Tony Blair
