Heat pumps: Government grant is a ‘woke welfare scheme for the wealthy’ says Andy Mayer
‘It’s a woke welfare scheme for the wealthy. The way they’re going to pay for this scheme is by putting up gas bills for everyone else’

“Britain’s MOST EXPENSIVE Airbnb” – Will Kensington MOCKS the STATE of the UK
Watch as Will Kensington expresses concern about the state of the UK, arguing that Downing Street is no longer a place of power but has instead become Britain’s most expensive Airbnb.
This comes as Andy Burnham is set to become the UK’s seventh Prime Minister in a decade, with seemingly no one challenging the “King of the North” for the country’s top job.

This scheme pushed by Boris Johnson when he was PM is an absolutely stupid idea. It is promoted by the government to pretend that they are meeting ‘green’ targets. All it does is subsidise people who are already well off at the expense of the poorest taxpayer.
These heat pump installations cost thousands, as well as all the cost and disruption caused by the renovations to the fabric of the property. Then at the end of the day, as others have pointed out, the electricity they run on is mainly generated by fossil fuels! You could not make it up! 😆

I can't afford a heat pump and no grants for solar panels so how can people afford it unless you have got money

As someone who lives in a house with an Air Source heating system I can testify that it is extremely efficient and economic! However, my home was constructed with Air Source in mind, it is an A rated insulated house, thermally efficient, underfloor heating, no letterbox, triple glazed etc! Not like the majority of our housing stock which would cost a fortune, if possible, to bring up to the same standard prior to fitting such systems! Boris needs to stop grandstanding and get a grip on what really matters!

Does anyone remember the GREEN DEAL? You were advised to buy a new gas boiler at a low cost, paid back over some years. I do and I did. When the bills came in I discovered that my new gas boiler was going to cost me £4,500 over several years. I found out that a local plumber would have installed it for £250 labour and materials for the same boiler which he could have obtained for £1800. BEWARE! You have been warned.

Ummmm. It’s not for the wealthy. I’m a certified AC refrigeration tech from the states and far from wealthy. The news of what you called a scheme set off green lights in my mind, for one it presents an opportunity to stay in the UK as I’m about to put in an application for my visa so I can work here in England legally. I am also developing a power bank compliant with the green energy requirement. I’m not wealthy and never been but like stated it will create 30,000 jobs here in the UK along with dropping carbon footprints, it’s all a win win win win situation. Soooooo stop the nonsense that it’s a perk for the rich. I’m not rich and the one perk for me is I can be granted permission to stay and contribute to the economy through taxes which I wouldn’t mind because it goes to great causes. The best part is I can stay with my wife year round instead of going back to the US , work 6 months and later return. That’s the best perk for me personally not the money.
Have a nice day 😊

Absolutely spot on, it is a very very expensive option again we see an out of touch government forcing things onto the population which increase already high living costs, and as long as johnson is there it can only get worse.

Heat Pumps are a scam in Brittain and Europe. They work fine in warmer climates but not in cooler ones.
@klackon1
December 17, 2023 at 9:52 pm
Heat source pumps sound marvellous, but the most efficient ground source heat pumps can be incredibly expensive. The cost of the installation for a three bed semi could be as high as £20000 (twenty thousand). Though radiators can be used, undefloor heating is recommended with heat pumps. Bet the government didn't consider that. Imagine having every carpet/floor lifted and the additional cost involved. Even with a £5000 grant the cost is enormous. Add this to the price of electric vehicles that the government wants us to swap our petrol/diesel vehicles for and it's ludicrous. Still, as a nation, we do produce a whopping 1% of the worlds CO2! Obviously reducing our carbon footprint will make a huge difference.

Another useless system that's obsolete before it starts! Reinventing the wheel to have corners is a backwards step! In 10 years they'll be replacing these with yet another system because they're inefficient! 🇬🇧🏴🏴

Heard a radio 4 piece about someone who had just installed air source heat pump, using their original radiators. The reporter said "theres no risk of a baby burning itself is there", the homeowner said they were "a little concerned at that but had no issues since they were installed in april, yet winter will be the real test".
Yes, winter will be the real test. Better off buying your oil heaters now because prices will go up as the cold weather comes in.
