🪖Battle of Britain🇬🇧 Lennox Lewis vs Frank Bruno | FULL FIGHT | WBC Heavyweight Boxing | Sky Sports
Lennox Lewis 23–0 (19 KO) vs. Frank Bruno 36–3 (35 KO), billed as The Battle of Britain, was a professional boxing match contested on 1 October 1993 at National Stadium, Cardiff in Wales. It was between WBC heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis, who was making the second defence of his title and Frank Bruno, who was fighting in his third world title bout, his two previous title fights having been unsuccessful.
Lennox Lewis had won the WBC heavyweight title when Riddick Bowe refused to fight him, so the WBC gave Lewis the title on 14 January 1993. Lewis had previously been the WBC’s number one contender by defeating Razor Ruddock. Lewis then became the first British world heavyweight champion since Bob Fitzsimmons lost the title on 9 June 1899. Lewis went on to defend his title by defeating Tony Tucker.
Frank Bruno had previously lost to Tim Witherspoon on 19 July 1986 for the WBA heavyweight title at Wembley Stadium and to Mike Tyson on 25 February 1989 for the WBA, WBC, and IBF titles at the Las Vegas Hilton.
The fight was the first time that two British-born boxers had fought for the world heavyweight title, although Bruno had questioned how British Lewis really was, as he had won a gold medal for Canada at the 1988 Olympic Games as an amateur. Bruno described Lewis as “…not British”, but said “It’s about boxing. I’m sick and tired of his pretences. He calls himself champion. He acts like he’s a Sugar Ray Leonard or a Willie Pep or a Joe Louis”,[5] and that “Nobody cares about Lennox Lewis in Britain.”
To counter the Bruno claim that he was “not British”, Lewis said, “What was I supposed to do? Not follow my mother to Canada?”, “Look, I’ve fought more British fighters than that guy has. He makes a fool of himself, dressing up in girls’ clothing on television”. Lewis called Bruno an “Uncle Tom”.
Bruno weighed in at 238 pounds (108 kg), and Lewis at 229 pounds (104 kg)
The fight was promoted by Frank Maloney Panix Promotions and by Main Events. It was a pay-per-view event with HBO in the United States and on Sky Sports in the United Kingdom.

🥊 Vitali Klitschko vs Odlanier Solis | FULL FIGHT | WBC Heavyweight Title | 19/3/2011
Vitali Klitschko vs. Odlanier Solis was a professional boxing match contested on 19 March 2011, for the WBC heavyweight championship. It took place at Lanxess Arena, Cologne, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany.
Odlanier Solis became the mandatory heavyweight challenger for the WBC heavyweight title, after a 10-round DQ win against Ray Austin on 17 December 2010.[3][4][5] The negotiations started out difficult. In the beginning, Odlanier Solis started out by demanding €1.5 million for the fight.[6] On 11 January 2011, it was officially confirmed that the fight between Vitali Klitschko and Odlanier Solis was going to take place in Cologne, Germany on 19 March.[2]
It was reported that Odlanier Solis earned $1.8 million for the fight (which at the time was €1.4 million). Vitali earned $15 million.[7]
The first press conference of the fight was officially held in Cologne and both fighters and managers attended the press conference.[8] At the press conference, neither fighter or promoter etc. spoke English, as there was no need to. Odlanier Solis does not speak English and Vitali Klitschko had no need to as the press conference and fight is in Germany.
There had been some trash talk up to the fight. Odlanier Solis has accused Vitali Klitschko for spreading rumors about him, that he is lazy, because of how he trains. Solis said that he is in perfect shape and ready to defeat Klitschko.
Vitali Klitschko on the other hand said that he will get rid of Solis from the boxing world, after the challenger stated several times that he will defeat Klitschko, end his reign and send him to retirement.
Klitschko had earlier said that he had fought some strong opponents, but never an Olympic gold medalist (which was inaccurate as he faced Lennox Lewis, who was an Olympic Gold Medalist). He also said that he expected a tough and close fight against a young and talented fighter. Solis’ manager Ahmet Öner had also accused Vitali Klitschko for avoiding this fight for a long time.
The second press conference was held on March 14 in Cologne. The press conference was quiet and there were no trash talk at the conference, although they both promised a knockout.
Before the fight, there was also a public work-out held on 16 March at the Mercedes-Benz Center in Cologne.
Ticket sales for the fight started on January 26 on www.eventim.de. The prices for the fight started at €25. The official weigh-in for the fight took place in Cologne, Germany, on 18 March. It took place at Karstadt Sport Breite Straße. The official weight for the two fighters was as follows: Vitali Klitschko weighed in at 249.5 lbs., while Odlanier Solis weighed in at 247 lbs.
The supervisor for the fight was Charles Giles. The commissioner for the fight was the Bund Deutscher Berufsboxer and Tom Loeffler (K2 Promotions) was the promoter.

🥊 Roberto Duran vs Davey Moore | FULL FIGHT | WBA Light-Middleweight Title CBS | 16/6/1983
Davey Moore vs. Roberto Durán was a professional boxing match contested on June 16, 1983, for the WBA super welterweight title.
n January 1983, former welterweight champions Roberto Durán and Pipino Cuevas met in a non-title bout at the LA Sports Arena. Durán dominated the fight and scored a fourth-round knockout victory that put him in line for a title shot against the undefeated reigning WBA super welterweight champion Davey Moore. Despite Durán’s impressive victory, he was still perceived to be on the downside of his career having lost to little-known Kirkland Laing only nine months prior and the 23-year old Moore expressed doubt that the soon-to-be 32-year old Durán would be a match for him, infamously stating “Was that Duran looking so good or Cuevas so bad?”
The fight was originally scheduled to take place on May 27 in Bophuthatswana, South Africa with a Ray Mancini–Kenny Bogner WBA lightweight title fight as the co-main event, but the event was cancelled after Mancini was forced to pull out with a fractured collarbone. Two weeks later, the Moore–Durán fight was rescheduled for June 16 (Durán’s 32nd birthday) at Madison Square Garden in Moore’s native New York City. Durán underwent a rigorous training schedule with his longtime trainer Ray Arcel proclaiming “Right now, he looks better than I’ve seen him in several years” while Durán himself stated “What will beat Moore is not only my experience, but my conditioning. If I had to pick between them, I would say my conditioning.” Durán admitted that a loss to Moore would possibly lead to his retirement saying “If I lose, I’ll probably retire, but I’m not thinking about losing the fight. I’m stronger, more mature, more experienced and I’m training more seriously than at any time in my career.”
Moore had successfully defended his title three times, defeating all three opponents by knockout and was installed as 5–2 favorite by oddsmakers and was confident in his ability to defeat his opponent claiming that Durán was “over the hill but he still has his name and beating him will take me to the big money fights. I don’t expect a very long fight, it might even be over in a round.”
