The US economy backs Elon Musk’s vision for sending people to Mars, the moon and beyond with SpaceX. Elon Musk’s rocket, telecommunications and artificial intelligence company SpaceX has listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange with a value of $2.2 trillion; making him the world’s first trillionaire in the process.
Other AI companies, including Open AI and Anthropic have plans to follow suit but what does that mean for the US economy and global financial stability?
In this episode, Justin speaks to Ryan Mac – an investigative technology reporter for the New York Times who has extensive experience covering Elon Musk and other leaders in the AI field.
SpaceX’s public valuation has made millionaires of many of its past and current employees and generated around $85 billion for the company; money that Elon Musk says is essential to fulfil the company’s plans to build bases on the Moon, put data centres into orbit and send human beings to Mars.
But what happens if those plans remain unfulfilled?
As more companies offer shares to investors and the general public, Justin and Ryan explore whether America is gambling on the promise of AI? And is the US economy becoming dangerously reliant on one industry?

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are planning to move back to the UK, the BBC has confirmed.
Prince Harry and Meghan intend to relocate from the US later this month to a private, non-royal residence outside London.
The couple’s children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, are enrolled to start at a British school in September.
King Charles was told of the move three days ago. There are no current plans for either of Prince Harry or Meghan to resume their roles as working Royals.
The Sussexes and their children visited King Charles at Highgrove in July, but it is understood the move was not discussed.
Prince William and Princess Catherine have also been informed of the move.

A young British couple and their pilot were killed in a helicopter crash on the Greek island of Sifnos on Monday, Greek police have said.
They have been named as newlyweds Alexander Cromie and Marie Ebert, who were in Greece on their honeymoon.
The private helicopter crashed just metres from a landing pad, killing the pair and their pilot, a Greek national.
The couple are said to have taken the helicopter from the village of Markopoulo near Athens to the popular holiday island, Kathimerini reported.
Greece’s aviation safety authority told the BBC it was investigating the crash and that its investigators were heading to the scene on Tuesday to gather evidence and speak to witnesses.

US president Donald Trump has said he will launch tougher economic measures against Iran, as well as any country that helps or does business with it.
He wrote in all capital letters on Truth Social that he was launching “the most crushing economic operation ever taken against any country”, without providing further details or the names of any nation other than Iran.
It comes after a 60-day ceasefire formally expired on Monday without any sign of a diplomatic settlement to the war the US and Israel began at the end of February.
Tehran said Trump’s threat would only bring further animosity.
