So, the way Mike should have informed ebbers that it was his turn, was by using a backhand.

The biggest pretentious ingredient was letting Ben cook first and restricting any attempt for anyone else’s creativity. Barry was right to call him a b…..d. Bleep.

This video has become way more funny now that I’ve seen that Adam Ragusa that shows you don’t need to constantly stir risotto

I have seen people with more measured reactions to being stabbed than Barry had to finding out he'd have to stir something. Nothing if not dramatic!

So this was the episode where Ben made a risotto and everyone else just looked at it.
We watched three people watch rice boil… And it was STILL entertaining!

I was wondering: what is “umami”? Is that 13:05 MSG? I am guessing MSG, because all it does is bump the umami sensation of food. Everything else has a name: anchovy, fish sauce, gentleman’s relish, truffle…🤗

I love a risotto and i dont often think this, but that looks disgusting.

The other guys could have added do many different vegetables (some fried tempura for crunch?) to the risotto/congee. I think risotto was a good idea for teamwork.

    Barry: Ben you b**tard!

    Jamie: resorts to drinking
Ben: ah the risotto is doing well!

  17. @derekrhodes4536

    Controversial take:
    1st: Jamie
    2nd: Mike
    3rd: Baz
5th (that's right, he did so poorly that he can't possibly get 4th): Ben
And it is their most abysmal fail to date.

Here is my reasoning: The point of this format is not, "Hey, do you think that Ben can delegate well enough to be the only creative element in the dish/kitchen?" Nor is it, "Does Ben know how to bring a risotto together, something any trained chef should know, even tho he can't stir it for 30 minutes?" I feel that Ben completely ignored the format of not just this series, but really, the premise of the channel. The idea for the channel is that 2 (1 today) chef friends build and and create teach the skills to think/act like chefs to their 3 normal friends, and in the process entertain and inform/teach the viewers in the process. The premise of the series is, can 5 (4) people, with only 10 mins awareness/cook time each, use the skills and knowledge they have gained or brought, to make a cohesive and coherent dish that they each influenced with their own quirky ideas and direction. Ben said, screw that, I am making a risotto, and these chumps are coming along for the ride. Therefore, Ben takes 5th (if not disqualified entirely and punished accordingly), and I rated the others based on each's relative effort in their attempts to try to shed the shackles of their oppressor, and add some sort of influence and signature to the final dish.

    🤣😂😁

To be fair, sometimes the mark of a good chef is to know when nothing needs to be done. Normies, all of you realized that here and took the role you needed to…even though that role was just to basically stir risotto…yes, that means even you, Baz.

10 out of 10 for ALL normies and if Teamwork badges could be awarded, you ALL would deserve one.

That being said, a good CHEF knows that he needs to trust his team to take things in the direction they need to go in. Ebbers, I do understand the need for a win, even if an easy one… however, you boxed your team in too much and put them all into a position where their own culinary skills couldn't play a role. The point of Pass-It-On is to grant enough freedom to your team to take things in unpredictable directions and you really didn't allow for that. You were the only one who could really choose the direction here and so we basically got a safe dish from a Michelin-star chef. Chef Ramsay would NOT approve. 3 out of 10 for Ebbers… it would be a 1 but I do have to give some credit for painting out a good direction.

Overall, I'd grant the pass but Ebbers…you really need to learn to trust your team more. Point them in the right direction but remember to leave some space for their own creative energies… especially when you're being followed by Baz. You might well be amazed at what his imagination can do when given clear enough direction.

  24. @Agispsi

    December 28, 2023 at 3:28 am

All they had to do to get 100% pass is just have the chef make the whole dish and have everyone else just babysit it throughout the cooking.

  25. @marthawilson444

    December 28, 2023 at 3:28 am

I do enjoy laughing at you guys. We all need laughs. Plus I sometimes get inspiration for my own mesls.

  30. @MaoMaster69

I came back to this video like, "Whoa, a pretentious ingredient PIO? I don't remember this, I wonder what extravagant thing they tried to make."

And then I saw it was the risotto video and….i do remember this. I remember this all to well.

  31. @christopherkarr1872

    December 28, 2023 at 3:28 am

Am I crazy, or does it keep popping up with 'Retentious ingredients used:"?

  32. @kyrinfireheart2621

    December 28, 2023 at 3:28 am

So let me preface this with saying that I think Ebbers is an extremely talented chef. But this dish is a fail since the entire concept of these episodes are to pass it on to the next chef for them to actually do something to make the dish happen. And Ben didn't allow the other three to really even contribute. He literally just railroaded the other three into just stirring because there was almost nothing they could do otherwise. In the last Pass It On Jamie had an extremely strong start and the other three pretty much fucked it up but at least they got to participate. It's what makes these interesting. Also, I know this is a year late but I'm starting at the beginning since I just recently found you guys. Seeing just how far you guys have come is really amazing.
