As a person that comes from a French speaking family, but barely speak it because I grew up speaking two other languages, this was hilarious! And can totally relate, trying to translate while doing something is hard, but pretty funny.
You guys should do another one of these in 2022, to see if Ben improved in his French. hihihi

I know what Ben’s going through! I worked in a kitchen once, despite it being in the Canadian prairies, that area was the landing spot for seasonal (winter) Quebec chefs, prep cooks and sous chefs who can’t find work in their province. They’d remove all the English labels in the kitchen so it was learn French or die, lol. At that time, I was making fifteen-hundred sandwiches a night, so I started just by knowing “pain le blie entier” and went from there. I remember a conversation with a particularly heated sous chef after a rough shift, I asked if he wanted tea he replied “oui, en cremé et miel” and I, tired, fed up repeated back “one cream, one honey, got it.” That was the thing that set him off, he just screamed at me “NO I AM NOT ENGLISH, I say MIEL not HOONEY!” That rant lasted half an hour, lol.

I'm working my way back through older videos. And I loved this. It also explains why Ben's pronunciation is so terrible: "mille feuille" is not "meel fway." (Didn't do that practice, didja?)
